No, not really. Perceiving faces, or objects of other kinds, is perfectly normal and an inherent part of the way the brain processes visual stimuli. The brain is not a computer, it is a pattern recognition mechanism, and seeks out familiar objects. The key factor here, is that the normal brain recognises "false positives" as being false, whilst an individual with schizophrenia will persist in the belief that the random image pertains to a real individual or object.

Schizophrenics by the way, never self-diagnose, no one ever goes to a doctor and says "I think I have schizophrenia, could you refer me to a specialist." A third party, usually a family member, is always involved in getting a schizophrenic medical attention. It is somewhat reminiscent of Catch 22, if you think you are suffering from a mental illness, you probably are not.

I agree most people do not self diagnose schizophrenia. These are just little things to raise awareness. One of my earliest "symptoms" looking back was seeing figures in tile patterns. But actually diagnosis, came much later with a police escort to the psychiatric ward. I knew what I had, as I was in healthcare before illness struck, and I was like please oh please let it be a brain tumor instead. Society is hard towards schizophrenics. I knew what the illness was, having done psych clinicals and having had multiple patients with schizophrenia through out the years. I simple put wanted a different diagnosis so bad, I refused to go then prayed for a brain tumor. Thank you for your comment:)
