Keeping up with God: A daily #quiettime scripture day 2
Good day #steemit friends, Yet another day to say our thanks to God for he has given us another day to live.
Today I am about to share my #quiettime scripture in John 14: 1-4 in which we will be reading and meditating.
In this passage, Jesus comforts his disciples from all their troubles and worries in life in which he PROMISE them if they would just believe in him surely he will prepare a place for them in heaven.
When you hear the word "PROMISE", what comes first in your mind?
In the Dictionary, it is defined as "a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen."

- Maybe for some of us, it is something we expect from people whom we had made an agreement with.

- Or, although it is defined as guaranteed, some of us defines it as something that is not YET guaranteed.

Viewing "PROMISE" in a worldy Perspective
In my own understanding as a working class individual in the corporate world, several times I have proven already that indeed promises are made to be broken. Might be promises from your boss that he will give you your monthly incentive but never came, or promises of a guaranteed job but they eventually fired you.
Each one of us have different reasons and experiences where we have proven that promises are not certain and guaranteed. It is very clear that the world taught us not to be certain in expecting things to come the good way into your life. In fact, the world is full of deceit that as much as possible you must have the perception to trust no one.
But did you know that the BIBLE knows no uncertainties and non-guarantees?
Viewing "PROMISE" in a godly Perspective
If you're use to what the world has taught you, you might be in awe of what God has promised us. In the Bible, in Jeremiah 29:11, God tells us that he made his plans already for us before we were born in this world. This is a link of the passage in John 14 1-4, where Jesus told his disciples that they must not worry and not be troubled for God has already made his plans for us and kept his promised that he will not forsake us nor leave us.
Let me give you a brief example: Your dad wants you to do good in school. He wants you to excel in your studies. As a way of showing his appreciation for your deeds, he gives his word that he will give you a reward if you do good in school.
Take it your Dad as God and school as this earth/world. In John 14:1-4 clearly emphasizes that if we'll just hold on to him, surely a reward in heaven is waiting.

Understanding God's promise

- It does not mean that you are facing numerous challenges, God is not fulfilling his promise
A lot of people don’t fully understands the promises of God and the good things might come to them.
The great promise is that God keeps His word. When you fully examine the Bible, you will never find any trace of God breaking his promises to each one of us. If our life doesn't go our way, maybe we have chosen the wrong motivation or maybe he wants us to learn something. We must make sure that we understands it fully the promises God had given us. We must not misinterpret it and most importantly we must always make sure that if life doesn't go our way it doesn't mean God had forsaken us instead God is with us all the time.
How can we be a channel to know God's promise?
Christianity is not easy, its not something we sleep over and wake up the other morning but instead it fully requires our patience and endurance. That is why it is very important that we hold on to his promise to us and that should give us great confidence to exercise our faith all the more in God’s promises and lead a life of new blessings and transformation.
As we try to reflect this to ourselves, let us continue to meditate to his words by reading the bible daily/everyday. This may not only help us surpass our spiritual thirsts and physical hardships, but it also enables us to impact other lives by letting them see the changes we have made in our lives.
Let me give you a little practical, read the bible at least once a day. It'll help strengthen your relationship to God even more.
