OK, yeah, maybe it's a dumb question.
But I had all sorts of things I "needed" to get done today (this being one of my rare "days off"), and now it's 9:17 in the evening and I'm halfway to nowhere at all.

When I look back on the day, I can only draw a couple of conclusions:
ONE, everything just takes longer to do than I estimate it will. Which would basically be an admittance that in 57 years of being alive, I remain hopelessly optimistic about the amount of time and effort needed to complete any one task in my universe. This particular notion is more or less related to...
TWO, most things just don't work the way they are ideally supposed to. Or even just plain 'ole supposed to. You need some little app to run some little security protocol ("for your protection") and a simple five minute task suddenly becomes a 30-minute death march of installing and re-installing some piece of crapware that will allegedly "ensure that your two-factor authentication really IS safe."
Meanwhile...
... the process of getting from cryptocurrency to fiat remains a dodgy proposition, much of the time. I feel like every time I do this thing, I have to hold my breath. Or simply be prepared for a simple 24-hour process to take a week.

There's always something "broken" or "down for maintenance."
Today, it was Coinbase's PayPal gateway that was down, so I ended up having to do an EFT transfer instead... that's not a bad thing, mind you... and I saved some $$$ on transaction fees. But it turned out to be yet another "time consumer."
Here's a piece of "faulty logic" for you (maybe of value to those who used Coinbase as a gateway): If you sell BTC on Coinbase to be sent to your bank account as fiat it takes four days. However, if you just trade the BTC for USD on Coinbase (instant) and then request a USD transfer to your bank account... it's there next day. Pardon my stupidity, but isn't that the exact same thing?
Meanwhile, Parte Deux...
Some pretty solid posts. They are made of stone.
I am sitting here writing this post instead of another post I was going to write while I "patiently" wait for a graphics driver to download and install, so my computer can talk to my camera again.
A task, I might add, which it was perfectly capable of doing, just yesterday. Most likely, the "culprit" is some piece of automatic software update with a bug in it. One day we're good... next day we're not.
And so I go around a complete circle, pondering that age old issue of where exactly time goes.
Oh! Good! Looks like my software patch has finished doing it's thing. I'd better send this and get back to more meaningful things!
How About YOU? Are you pretty good at estimating how long it REALLY takes to do things? Or does it often seem like things take longer than you figured they would? Does it seem like a lot of our delays in life are due to the fact that something isn't working the way it was intended to? Leave a comment-- share your experiences-- be part of the conversation!

I could almost count on my fingers the tasks or projects I completed on time. Most of the problem used to be lack of focus or, as you referenced above , technical issues.
I've gotten to the point now I have to let go of time considerations and commit to "until it's done". Consequently, I don't start a lot of things I could benefit from.
Probably the best thing coming from that is my willingness to let others help.

And maybe that's a key element to "time management:" Simply not taking on stuff. Something I am still learning... accepting help from others, that's another one I'm working on. Spent too much time having to do everything myself. Harder to unlearn than I expected.

My estimation on getting things done is getting worse 🙂 Granted, I think our world is getting more complex so there’s more break points.

I think you're exactly right... there are more points at which stuff "breaks down." And (ironically) many of these break points seem to be things created to SAVE us time...

Sometimes I leave the window open to my time machine and time itself just escapes from space-time warping effects off-gas into the atmosphere. This might explain some of the strange weather patterns now that I think about it.
This might be why things took longer than expected. Granted I already know this so I try and not worry if things take longer then expect to treat things as task orientation with a set of the time range in expect to complete. Granted I also just have days like today where I got nothing done.
Geez, the things humans learn if they only ask!

Hej, faldt lige over din post og så dit brugernavn. Fantastisk at se at der er andre danskere end mig her på SteemIt :-)

Well definitely it takes much longer for things to be done that you ever estimated and thats because firstly unexpected things happen and secondly yes maybe something is not working right.

thanks @denmarkguy. It goes both ways for me. Sometimes I think something will be easy and short to accomplish but it ends up taking a long time. And sometimes something looks complicated but just takes a second to do.
Btw, I have not tried Converting to Fiat. Hadn't made enough to get to that position. But thanks for sharing your experience ;)

I consistently underestimate how long it takes to get something done (or to drive somewhere).
