We signed up for a timeshare (what were we thinking?)

Las Vegas.
Off season.

We were casually walking on the strip, it was our wedding anniversary, a lovely older man approached us and started talking to us. I love random conversations so I thought nothing of it. before I knew it we were in a hotel lobby with free coffee and cakes.. weird. But ok let's get this over with and get our free $100 we watched a 25min presentation and was taken to a back room, where we were given a free trip to Hawaii. The traveller in me was so excited! I didn't stop to think it was too good to be true. How optimistic. Before we knew it, the bells were ringing and I swear they let off balloons and gimmicks everywhere I felt like I was on a game show. Boom $1000 paid into the programme and a $100 visa card in our hands. We left, excited.

We both looked at each other as we got back to the hotel room. What did we just do? We opened the 100-page file inside the envelope they told us to wait to open it till we get back home. Right there on the umpteenth page. You have 48hours to cancel the timeshare deal. Wait, the Hawaii trip is for 3 days? and is subject to avail? wait, everything is subject to avail? hmm .. The very next morning we went in and cancelled.! and with that we went and saw the grandcanyon!
moral: take the cash and watch the presentation, but never buy !
