Question 1. What is a trusted timestamp?
Answer 1. Verified user DNA compiled into and through an energy larger than the explanation of thought itself.
Question 2. What are real world uses for this exactly?
Answer 2. To seperate darkness from light, truth from deception, positive from negative.
Question 3. How do I Verify a timestamp?
Answer 3. Verification comes through a process similar to witnessing the time at hand. All users are pre-written into the blockchain but once the chain is whole, it will eternally stay never to be erased..
Question 4. Why is this better than other timestamping solutions?
Answer 4. Proof of human existance allows an individual to fingerprint his/her own future.
1. Find a program such as PGP that allows the user to choose his/her encryption based format.
2. Upon running this program , it will create a user certificate that is embedded with data that is verififed and trusted such as your timestamp, location, fingerprint, etc... Now Stamp it!
3. Last but not least, click to verify!
Trusted timestamping is achieved through including the hash 'fingerprint' of your file on a transaction on a decentralised blockchain (in this case, STEEM). No one, not even the original owner will ever be able to change the date. This tool allows you to calculate the hash value of any file and write it onto the STEEM Blockchain 100% free. This timestamp proves the existence of the file at the moment where it was stamped.
You can technically prove that an essay you need to give to your professor by friday, was actually written before friday, even though this would be foolish to try practically. Other examples would be for patent registration, insurance contracts and this kind of things.
You can either directly enter your hash, or use our tool to calculate it for you. Then you just need to press the Stamp! button and within 2-4 seconds a success message should appear, telling you the recorded time. All times displayed are UTC.
In order to be able to verify, you need to keep the original file, and remember which hashing algorithm you used. To prove a document existed, just send the file to someone, and tell them to test the file and press the 'Verify!' button. If the file doesn't match a recorded timestamp on the blockchain, it should say 'hash not found'. If on the opposite this hash was ever written on the blockchain, it will display the earliest timestamp of this hash and the block number.
Blockchains are built on top of a trusted timestamp mechanism and are a perfect to achieve proof of existence. STEEM blockchain is currently the only one that has literally zero costs to print a message as small as a hash. The confirmation time is under 4 seconds. Compared to bitcoin alternatives, this is 200 times more precise timestamping, and infinitly cheaper.
This service is very easy to use but can sometimes get confusing... No worries though, you got this!
A FEW TIPS
The source code with the API is always running the service and is hosted on github, so stick a fork in it already. :p Make sure to explore the sight because there is so much useful information and data to help you along the way.
All acknowledgements and thanks and gratitude towards @heimendinger and in my opinion, one of the most useful tool which is found here WhalesClub

I don't understand the dna, light, bla bla in the article, but thanks for mentioning my tool anyway.
Can you please update my name to the correct one tho?

I would request this post be even more dumbed down. Is this only pertinent information for whales? What amount does a person have to be considered in the whale club?
