Time Traveler's Guide

Time travel has my head going in circles. The whole things started right after I had dinner, I was laying on my room floor with a full belly and a head full of crap. An idle mind with a filled stomach has never been a good combination. I laid there, thinking about what Einstein was smoking when he cooked up E=mc2. This is basically the energy generated by a mass m moving through time-space at the square of the speed of light c. This is all theoretical of course and if a body truly did achieve this feat, it would probably generate enough energy to bend time-space and potentially travel through time.

This led me to another question that the drugs I’m taking refuses to answer; if we’re to consider time as a fluid entity in which we’re moving through, does this mean that the past, present and future are rigid bodies just floating within the rivers of time? This is the analogy used in the video game and movie called “prince of Persia: sands of time”. This concept depicts the universe as a single entity flowing through time and that moving through time will lead to the reversal of this flow. This gives one the freedom to jump into a time in the past and alter the actual present/future of past through foreknowledge gained in the present/future.

However, if we consider time to be something like a rigid structure in which the universe and infinite galaxies are living in, it is then fair to assume that traveling to the past means that you will find yourself in a black hole. The assumption here is that time as indeed moved beyond that realm and everything in the past is nothing and so is the future. Therefore jumping through space-time could potentially leave the person in a blackhole.

The confuckulated theories of the butterfly effect and predestination then comes to mind. The butterfly effect, according to an old shitty TV series called “Heroes” depicts a situation when an individual travels through time and makes alterations that affect the present. Only that unlike the “sands of time” concept, the changes made are not as wholesale to the entire universe and are assumed to only affect the Earth’s course. This then brings the question of predestination; if we were always going to be what we’re going to be, then does time travel actually make any change in the general scheme of things?

I’m fascinated by the concept and it would absolutely awesome if humans actually push the limits within the next few hundred years, I want you to know that I believe in you and I’m mentally ready to meet you. This is a distress signal to anyone who can see this, please visit me in your past that is my present if it is possible.
