Framing a tiny house is much like framing a normal house just on a smaller scale. The only real difference is securing the house for transportation. The walls must be attached securely to the trailer and strapping or bracing must be installed to prevent the house from shifting. The extent of these measures will depend on what you have planned for your tiny house. Since we didn’t plan on moving frequently, and would only travel at relatively low speeds, less extreme measures could be taken. Some of the builds we came across in our research were designed to be towed around all over the place much like a travel trailer. In these cases, we saw extensive strapping all the way around the house or even cables attaching the roof to the trailer. Knowing how you plan on using the trailer will help you to determine how much strapping and other reinforcements you will need.
Don't be discouraged if you don't have a shop to build your tiny house in. We didn't even have a flat surface to build our walls on so we used the deck of the trailer.
Once the walls are erected bracing them well is important so they don't shift. Make sure to brace in all directions; something we forgot to do! Watch the video for more details.
Note the short lengths of 2x4"s used to prevent the wall sliding off the trailer as the walls are raised.
Make sure to have enough people to raise the walls safely. We got excited after building the first piece of wall and recklessly tried to raise it. As a result, the 200+lb. framing fell on my wife, Aimee's, foot and we had to make a trip to the emergency room.
We bolted the walls to the trailer and used several different types of strapping to prevent shifting.

Finally! The tiny house movement is on Steemit. Seems like a doable project to try and tackle on your own. This could without a doubt help out many who are homeless, because the lack of affordable housing in now many parts of the world. Have you seen anything about people framing tiny homes with steel instead of wood? A friend of mine said he'd be doing his in steel for increased strength to weight ratio and decreased weight and thus gas costs on transportation.

Helped a man in my work complex with his tiny home, the end result was amazing. If anyone is discouraged from building their own tiny home, the man I'm talking about did it with no prior knowledge or experience just a little help from friends from time to time. Anyways love how yours is coming along, once you get it all shelled in you can take your time since weather will no longer be an issue.

Our tiny house is actually a bit big and heavy to move frequently but the beauty of tiny homes is they can be designed to meet the individual needs of the builder/owner. So if someone did want that lifestyle they could build a tiny house that was easier to tow.

In areas of North America with mild winters it might be better to just buy a good used travel trailer/fifth wheel and customize it to fit your needs. The main factor that pushed us over the edge to build a tiny house was our severe Canadian winters. Even four season RV's aren't built for the type of cold we have here.

It took me about 2 days of work to cut, lay out and fasten the walls. Also 1 day to erect the walls. 1 day to do the roof. And 1 day during the planning stage to diagram everything so I would know what I was doing.

That sounds great. One of the reasons we decided to build on a trailer was that local building codes prohibit new houses under 800 sqft. I think we may have gone for a permanent structure also if that wasn't the case.
