After July thunderstorms the Sonoran desert comes alive with toads that seek out rain pools for breeding. The Red-spotted Toad has a shrill trilling call while the Couch's Spadefoot toad sounds more like a bleating lamb. This recording was made well after sunset at the small temporary pool pictured here.
