Have you heard about @TokenBB?
It's the project me and my friend @kareniel have been working on and almost ready to bring online in its early alpha version. It will allow anyone with a one-click install to launch their own Steem-powered Wordpress forum. Sign-up on our website to be notified about the release of alpha.
I thought it would be a good idea to share the story behind TokenBB and why I believe now is the perfect moment for a project like this.
First came ChainBB by @jesta
@Jesta was the first one to play with the idea of a forum-like user experience on the Steem blockchain. It was working quite well and definitely changed the way people interacted with content. I was not a super fan of the design where it seemed that everything was too big and bulky but the idea still stuck with me.
About 5 months ago, he decided to turn off chainbb service and concentrate on other things.
Then came SteemPress by @fredrikaa and @howo
@SteemPress remains one of my favorite project on the Steem blockchain and I was worried that they would take @TokenBB as a competitor but after talking we realized that there wasn't much overlap between our two project.
They decided to tackle the Wordpress market. Wordpress represent 1/3 of all websites on the internet which are mostly blogs.
The goal of SteemPress is:
to see all bloggers be empowered by the Steem blockchain to monetize content and reach new audiences.
When we combined those 2 ideas(jesta's forum UI and SteemPress Wordpress integration idea), we saw a tremendous potential for all sorts of people to launch their own community on their own website and give them control over what appears and what doesn't on their own internet property.
Why TokenBB, Why Now?
I believe we are right at the cusp of when the Steem blockchain can push for integration to the internet at large. I see a future where Steem is ubiquitous at all levels of the content internet. Pushing integration with services like Wordpress is essential to grow the number of users and increase the number of sign-ups.
HF20
For now, all sign-ups will have to go through the Steemit.com faucet and wait however long it takes to get approved. With HF20, each dapps will be able to sign-in their own users right from their own website.
Hivemind
Hivemind will allow for communities to be formed, give permission, set arbitrary rewards, etc. We've decided to move forward without hivemind since we can do all of those in a "centralized" matter using Wordpress but we've model the schema so that we could easily migrate to it when it goes online.
SMTs
Ultimately, SMTs are the future of the Steem Blockchain and will allow for each community to have their own token if they want to, launch ICOs, airdrop on other communities, etc.
Once alpha is launched, we are very much looking for your input and discussion about how we should go about implementing SMTs.
Conclusion
If you haven't signed up to be notified, we highly recommend that you do so right now by visiting https://tokenbb.io - Feel free to comment all of your suggestions, questions, and ideas related to this project. We are really excited about its future.
I heard a lot about SMT last year but no so much any more. Is it still being developed?

yes very much...but other technologies (HF20, hivemind, appBase) are required for SMTs to be implemented.

Ok that’s good to hear, I just assumed the whole idea died off during this bear market. When do you think smt’s will start rolling out??

That is really a wonderful idea and I say really is that sprucing up wordpress websites to get integrated with steem blockchain to let users get a chance to earn steem via interaction through those websites will change how people experience the Internet @cryptoctopus and it is the start.

Love @steempress and this looks like a fantastic addition to the STEEM platform and should add greater outreach to the massive Wordpress userbase. Will be watching with interest
