Topic: ODI final umpiring blunder

Now umpire Dharmasena has admitted making a mistake in giving 6 runs instead of 5 for the overthrow incident in the final over, the question remains would it have made any difference? Had the penultimate ball progressed as it did, Stokes would've needed to 3 off the last ball to win. Instead of looking to bunt down the ground for 2, he would've looked to clear the boundary & the pie Boult bowled would've cleared the stadium & game over.
Still, the ultimate determinant of what was a game for the ages, being who scored the most boundaries, was an odd one & one wonders how the powers came to this decision when making the rules. Normally, a wicket count-back or who won the round-robin match would be the determinant, & I suspect along with the overthrow law, the rulemakers may make changes in these areas.
