Topic: Welcome to the Flip Side

Basic context is, people were worried about the bad content on Trending getting self-votes and "draining the reward pool."

Original post: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Mute Button

So, now we have PALnet, and basically the enitre blockchain has been muted. We're in the "We Can Rebuild" phase. Let's make the most of it.

  1. Who is working on the interface?

It's Aggroed's group. The same people who brought us Steem Monsters and Steem Engine.

  1. Does the "team" have enough funds to deal with the big cost that can come their way?

I believe so, if this is any indication: Scotbot Server ordered

Scotbot is the back-end that simulates steemd for rewarding upvotes and such. E.g.:

http://scot-api.steem-engine.com/get_discussions_by_trending?token=PAL&limit=10&tag=palnet

  1. What is the ultimate goal of PALnet?

I don't know if you saw the "SPORK" idea, but it was basically a spec to "fork out" aloof stakeholders, without touching their original stake. So the ultimate goal is to recreate the original conditions of the Steem platform and then move forward with the community, without the ninja-mining bagage.

Ok, tell me what PALnet is all about. I'm a little confused...I feel like I went under a rock and then found out that a whole bunch of things are happening.

  1. Who is working on the interface?
  2. Does the "team" have enough funds to deal with the big cost that can come their way?
  3. What is the ultimate goal of PALnet?

Thanks for the response!

Topic: Is PALnet 80% there?

Quotes from The Mythical Man-Month by Frederick P. Brooks, Jr.

The management question, therefore, is not whether to build
a pilot system and throw it away. You will do that. The only
question is whether to plan in advance to build a throwaway,
or to promise to deliver the throwaway to customers.

I asked @banjo for a mythical-man-month, and it randomly spit this out. It was perfect for the discussion we were having.

The qustion is: Is PALnet 80% there?

The mythical-man-month quote is not an attempt at being snarky, just realistic about project development and management. Maybe steemit.com is the real throw-away. In that case, we're making real progress.

So I'm wondering....
Is the idea to get our communities off discord, and into tokenised forums here?

Is that the purpose? Is that even desirable? Or even workable?

What do y'all think?

Also.... where exactly do any comments made on this forum show up? They are clearly recorded on the blockchain... so where?

I think the tokenbb forums are a game changer. They will hit their stride I'm sure soon. So far it works, and yes it is disrable.

Building a forum takes some serious time and effort but there are still plenty of very successful forums in which people use. As Palcoin grows (granted it is just starting and people claimed their drops today) it will increase exposure and get more people active.

If it works how i think it works then TokenBB would be a great way to keep things organized for both users and communities by not cluttering the feed and keeping things in the comments instead.

Test post to see if that's indeed how it works.

I'm getting some glitches here and there... but this is exciting and the possibilities are endless. Imagine the potential here, we could have whole communities that have nothing to do with crypto, place their flag on here as well. It's almost as if we are creeping up on reddit.

It can be great if people upvote the comments, and if they are a lot of categories...
But the best thing would be a Betterdiscord plugin for direct steem/palnet integration ;-)

I used to really like using the old chainBB that @jesta built, so have high hopes for this tokenBB/palnet fusion.

I think that the idea is that rather than trying to piece together a conversation across several different steem posts and discord chats, a large amount of discussion will happen in a thread on the forum... Looking forward to seeing how well it works.

Topic: How is Everyone using the Palnet tag?

I asked in the discord channel and they said that as long as we have good quality content material, we can use the palnet tag.

My question then is: This won't make palnet.io platform a 'unique' platform like those of weed, aaa or sct where the platform is content specific.

Palnet.io is then a mini Steemit platform then, am I correct?

I don't mind using the palnet tag but don't want to spam the tag.

I would say that palnet (especially palnet.io) is a way to browse the content of the blockchain that isn't polluted by bidbots. I actually much more enjoy finding content in the trending or hot section that the one on steemit.com

  4. Buying palcoin: purchase palcoin on steem-engine.com for a 1-1 ratio to steem
  5. Participation:
  • posting and commenting: also proof of brain 75% of inflation
  • interaction in discord: 5% of inflation

Inflation of 10% with -1% per year till 4%

I have a lot of questions for a FAQ ;-) :

  • Is there a list of accounts who will receive airdrop tokens ?
  • Can the price of PALCoin change in relation to steem ?
  • When the mining payouts are made ?
  • Is it possible to delegate ?

Thanks in advance!

I can answer some of those for you zonguin just being a normal user myself since yesterday.

  1. I believe the airdrop is to about 16,000 accounts which are active accounts, duplicate accounts and those who are blacklisted or have not been active recently wont get the airdrop.

  2. I would imagine PALcoin would be its own value and not follow steem

  3. If you are staking one of the mining tokens then payouts happen at random depending on how much you have. At the moment I have 35 PALMM and it has been paying me a few every hour.

  4. Delegate not sure on that one sorry.

This seems like a great place for smaller accounts to come and interact.

I am looking forward to see what updates the PAL teams comes up with....just a guess but I figure they will out code Steemit Inc.

Breathing new life into the STEEM Blockchain

Very excited about this new venture. Looking back at this we are going to marvel how small it began and how big it became. Projects like these will quickly overshaddow steemit.com and someday, the STEEM blockchain will not be known for steemit.com at all. It'll be known for d.tube, Splinterlands.io, palnet.io, steempeak.com, steemhunt.com etc etc.

Keep up the good work! You guys are the true core of the STEEM blockchain. Let's all go to the moon together!

The idea of having a forum where there is some reward for commenting and engaging is awesome.... but I'm not sure I can see anything happeneing here when everyone hangs out in the Discord.

I guess this place is not so much for casual chatting, but for discussion on threads.

I can certainly see the potential for this in one particular community I'm part of, where we cna have threads on different topics, keeping the conversation focussed (presumably) on that topic.

Perhaps this was merely set up to show how the tokenBB forum instance can work in a project?

Or maybe this isn't quite set up properly yet... there's a lot going on at the moment, so maybe not a priority.....?

People might get upset is suddenly there are forum posts that end up in the blog section sucking their VP down.

Forum topics are comments, not posts. Unless you want to post it in your feed, things on the forum stay in the forum. That was a deliberate choice, same as excluding bot replies and the like.

Hello, everyone!

Glad to see you on this forum of this brand new project!
I'm @zonguin. I've been on steem since the summer of 2017, which is already 2 years ago!
I am French-speaking, and very active (especially before ^^) in my community.
I have created a curation project, @aidefr, which rewards quality French-language posts. I think @aidefr will acquire some PALs to benefit from the project!
Personally, I post articles mainly in French about science, steem, high-tech,... I am passionate about new technologies, including blockchain and cryptocurrencies!
I have also created a discord (FrancoPartages) where everyone is free to share their articles and discuss with the Francophone community.
I love steem, and even if there is less and less activity (at least in #fr), I still believe in this beautiful project thanks to the great people who work every day to develop huge and totally crazy projects for this ecosystem!

Thanks to all of you, and see you soon!

WOW! Amazing changes taking place since I have been gone. Awesome to see the folks over at PAL are still doing great things. The new token system seems like it will take a little getting used to, but also introduces a welcome change to a much loved platform by myself, and I know many others.

I am back from a short break, have been working at a new job slowly gaining more responsibility as time goes on. I was finally able to invest a small amount of money in crypto, which I am very happy about. RVN, ADA, ETH, and BTC are what I went with for now. I'm already up around 10% since I made my trades but wasn't able to invest very much unfortunately. My plan is to put away a little bit each week or so, as I can, and build up a nice portfolio.

Anyway, great to be back good to see everyone, happy July 4th to those of you in the USA, as well as elsewhere (especially Britain) hehehe

Topic: Creativity

PalNet

Hello Everyone. Joining Steem around Summer 2017, I heard about it a while before. I first spotted the token on Poloniex. After joining, I didn't post as frequently, because I worked part time, ran a business and wouldn't buy it. Steem was too good to be true. The Steem Community and steemians are a truly inspiring set of people who decide to embark on a new, alternative journey. With a whole platform of creative individuals who respect and attend to originality it is truely everything I ever dreamed of. I always found conventional social media to be about everyone following their self interest. Mostly not caring wheather they post someone elses picture, forget to write the quotation marks and the author's name on their memes etc. I find corporate centralised pop culture social media from that last paradigm bygone. Here I get a feeling that some, but rather more are setting goals within their respective communities and make those means what drives the communal camaraderie and efforts by genuinely interacting by commenting and engaging. Most of all the results are visible because many take saving our planet very seriously here. At heart, I was always a libertarian and grew up on FA Hayek and Mises. I believe this revolution truly marks a shift from political and corporate fascism to something we have yet to try. Although I also believe that it creates a hierarchy in social classes, which makes it harder for new users to truly establish themselves. The beautiful thing is that some people did care and created oppertunity. In the past few months I have not just given the Steemit community more attention, but engaged in joining a Steem Group Meditation hosted my @riverflows and @bewithbreath, discovering the @mindfullife community, @naturalmedicine, @tribesteemup, @ecotrain... I am not a fan of plagiarism and at the same time it gives me the opportunity to publish something and also share it with a community of people who are driven by creating original content. I also write articles on crypto currencies and history with the help of recently released information that reveal previous coverups and covert programs in orders of global finance. I believe that the internet was a small paradigm that gave us some freedom of information. The one we all chose to be in might be the biggest paradigm shift in human economic history.
