What it means to be tolerant.

Many people think they are tolerant, but aren't. You don't tolerate things you are indifferent to or things you approve of. To be tolerant requires you disapprove of something or think it's bad, but that you refrain from trying to police or control it despite thinking it's bad. You live and let live.

So, a good way to test you own tolerance is to make a list of things you disapprove of but which you are unwilling to police, even if you had dictatorial power. What do you think is deplorable but you would let slide, even if made king and even with an army of secret police?
