The Rings of Power gets ZERO Golden Globe nominations

...and that is precisely how many they deserve to have.

Now I presumed that since most of the award ceremonies are corrupted and what ends up nominated is not normally what the "best" out there actually is. After all, this is the very industry that seems to be dead set on shooting itself in the food by injecting everything with propaganda and while that is not the biggest problem with The Rings of Power it is one of them for sure.

Now I didn't actually care when the show did what we have come to expect with a lot of shows and diversified the cast to, as they say, "reflect the current world that we live in." It didn't really bother me because I don't care. I just wanted a decent story and if that means we are going to have black dwarves and elves as well as Asian hobbit type characters then so be it. What I hadn't expected was that this would be basically the only thing that the show focused on and didn't bother with actually having a decent story mixed in there as well.

How does a company spend over $50 million per episode yet manages to have almost no story, no continuity, no profound dialogue, and circumstances that seem completely happenstance and against all rhyme or reason?

I suspect that RoP will likely end up nominated in some award ceremonies in the future but this will be purely on the technical side of things, which is one of the only redeeming qualities of this billion dollar disaster.

The technical and effect side of things in RoP is pretty impressive but at the same time, if you are spending that much money per episode, it damn well should be, right?

When the news broke about the Golden Globes completely snubbing Rings of Power the internet for the most part and especially in fan forums on reddit erupted into celebration. Since Amazon is such a huge company we all just kind of presumed that they would rig the system and get nominated anyway, even though I am yet to meet more than a handful of people that say that actually enjoyed the show. It is worth noting that several of the people that I know that stated they enjoyed the show clearly hadn't actually watched it, but rather had been told by some sort of social media that they should for political reasons.... stupid.

There is amazing scenery and very impressive locations, real or CGI, that are definitely worth giving credit where credit is due, but unfortunately that is where all praise that this show receives ends. Aside from a couple of characters, which I would imagine we will end up hating later for other reasons, none of the characters are even very interesting. They focus on too many things at once and the story jumps all over the place.

There are a load of nerds (take it easy, I am one of you) out there that constantly complain about how the series doesn't follow the lore but they need to understand that in many instances it isn't allowed to since Amazon didn't buy the rights to anything other than the main Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit book. As far as any other "real" backstory is concerned they are not allowed to pull from Tolkien's information or they run the risk of getting sued. So if this is the sole reason for deviating from the lore then I understand their hands are tied.

This still doesn't excuse them for having such terrible writing and lack of any sort of continuity or even things in the show that make sense. There are far too many chance encounters rather than actual backstory, and because of this we never have a chance to develop any sort of feelings towards the characters, of which, there are entirely too many.

Nothing about the Harfoots makes any sense and all the characters are terrible

I am yet to find a single person that can refute any of the statements that I make about this awful awful show and it will be really interesting - as well as deserved - to see them completely snubbed by all other award ceremonies as well. I wouldn't count on them getting totally left out but if anyone nominates them for anything other than CGI or technical-related awards, we will know that award ceremony is completely full of poo poo.

Not that it really matters anyway because who watches award shows anyway?
