Across the Nam Xi River in Hekou County, Yunnan Province in Lao Cai Province, Vietnam, of which Sabah is a district, about 38 km from Hekou. Sabah is located in the northwest of Vietnam, with a maximum altitude of about 2,100 metres. Formerly a French colony, Sabah is full of French architecture despite its deep mountainous location. It is also a summer resort in Vietnam, with temperatures ranging from 17 to 23 degrees all year round. Many foreigners come here for a summer holiday, and the French and European cultural overtones combined with the pleasant climate make Sabah a French town hidden deep in Asia.
