Neon has released the first teaser for I, Tonya, which offers a foul-mouthed introduction to Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding.
The dark comedy centers on the life and career of the infamous Olympic figure skater, who fell from grace after the attack on fellow competitor Nancy Kerrigan. Craig Gillespie directs the dark comedy, which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival.
The preview includes footage of Harding as she became the first American woman to complete a triple axel jump in competition, as well as shots of an infuriated Sebastian Stan as her volatile husband, Allison Janney as her abusive mother and Julianne Nicholson as her empathetic coach.
"America — they want someone to love, but they want someone to hate," says Robbie as Harding in the teaser. "And the haters always say, Tonya, tell the truth. There's no such thing as truth — I mean, it's bullshit."
I, Tonya hits limited theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 8, followed by a nationwide rollout in January.
