I like this block. Just remember it's very large and heavy. So if your an older person it's very heavy to lift and move around

It's heart wood, no sap wood anywhere.The craftsmanship is great with no gaps or splits between glued boards.It was delivered in a well packed box with beefy and sturdy form fitting dense foam corner covers.Save the packing corners to use to store this cutting board. Absolutely wonderful!
I bought these as gifts for my coworkers because they liked mine so well. We work in a pharmacy and stand for a minimum of 9 hours per day. It took 2-3 weeks before I noticed a difference. Now my legs are less achy and less tired when I get home. I also have 2 at home, 1 in front of sink and 1 in front of oven. Easy to wipe clean.

Beautiful piece, just much smaller than I pictured. It would be a bit difficult to actually use as a cutting board due to its size.

I initially balked at spending this much money on a cutting board, but boy am I glad my wife talked me into this one! The Boos Block is incredible. Solid, sturdy, and well-crafted; plus, it's more than easy on the eyes. This thing lives on the end of the island in our kitchen, where it sees daily use. I can't tell you how many complements we've received about it from our friends -- the pictures on Amazon really don't do it justice. It's definitely an all-around winner.We use the side with the "gravy groove" for everyday work, like slicing bread, chopping vegetables, etc. The flat side is reserved for dough work, such as rolling out a pizza or making pie crust. Since the wood can absorb some of the stronger odors, this is a good method for preventing cross-contamination. No one wants and onion-flavored apple pie, right?Given it's size and weight, clean-up is a bit more involved than the usual "throw it in the dishwasher." For routine cleaning, a little hot soapy water and a sponge does the trick. We have a divided sink, so it's impossible to put the block all the way down it; there's a usually a bit of a balancing act going on, but it works out okay. I live in an apartment with a small kitchen, and the counters are too high for me to comfortably knead bread. I have a 2' x 2' table that is a better height for me, and I bought this to put on the table. It's perfect. The craftsmanship is superb, and I love that it's reversible, so I can do basic cutting and chopping vegetables on the grooved side, and flip it over for bread-making. I looked in stores and couldn't find anything that was just right--much less something made in America with sustainably-grown maple! This is as environmentally sound a product as it is lovely.
I love John Boos products but this particular board doesn’t seem to ship well. This is my 2nd board, same specs, that arrived with a crack on the side. I returned the last one only to reorder this one which also arrived with a crack. Perhaps the shipping needs better packaging for this large board. I would keep this damaged board at a discount but not finding this as an option.
