On February 14, 2017, a line of severe storms progressed through Central and Southern Texas. These storms were expected to go tornadic in the early morning hours of February 14, 2017, just before, and during rush hour traffic. These storms made their way through the peak of Houston rush hour, around 9 AM. The Houston skyline can be seen partially hidden by the base of the severe storms just after they had produced tornadoes to the southwest of the city.
Tornadoes were reported in Wharton, Rockport, Van Vleck, and areas in and around Houston, Texas. Multiple structures were damaged in the Bridlewood Estates subdivision near Sugarland, Texas just southwest of Houston, Texas. Damage consisted of roof damage, downed trees, knocked over fences and gate facades.
A grain silo was destroyed in Richmond Texas, sending aluminum siding throughout the Bridlewood Estates subdivision. No deaths were reported and only a few injuries. Property damage was minimal and could've been much worse. Footage of some of the event and damage from storm chaser Aaron Jayjack (@aaronjayjack) can be seen below.
