I'm an extreme newbie to blockchain in general and Steem in particular. I just signed up for my Steem account today and watched my first video on the blockchain a few nights ago. There seems to be so much potential and what is most amazing is that it appears to be actually creating a better world.
So who is Your Friendly Neighbourhood Organizer and why does he refer to himself in the third person? The first question is a bit easier to answer, so let's start there...
I started Toronto Personal Growth in January of 2016. Toronto Personal Growth is a Facebook community of over 3000 local Toronto members, interested in attending events, classes, workshops and retreats to explore all aspects of Personal Growth, Holistic Health and Spirituality.
Here's a link to our group:

For most of last year I was organizing my own events (mindfulness classes/practice) and helping to promote events organized by others in Toronto.
This year I've been focusing more on helping to promote events organized by others in the community. The main way I do this is by publishing a list of upcoming Toronto events related to the topics mentioned above.
Here's a link to the list I did for December:

Right now it's free for events to appear on the list. But not all events submitted to me appear on the list. I try and curate the list so that it gives our members a variety of events to choose from, so the same organizers do not appear week after week. My goal right now is to find a few sponsors for this list so that it can still be free for organizers.
Some of the sponsors I'm looking at are the oraganizers on this list:

and the owners of the retreat centres on this list:

I'm curious to see how Steemit in particular and the blockchain in general will help me grow and strengthen the Personal Growth community in Toronto.
