How torrent sites are 'using' your computer?

There has been unusual build up of RAM, i mean consumption of RAM while downloading any large file via uTorrent or while accessing any torrent website. There are rumours that this unusual behaviour is because, there torrent sites or torrent engines, use our computational power in some sort of parallel processing or parallel programming, whatever it is, to gain more power and hence mine BITCOIN.....

Torrents usually kill RAM, but I wouldn't be surprised if some sites are starting to join the mining trend. Torrenting is a little shady in the first place, so I hope you're using a VPN (Im sure you're only using it for legal stuff ;D)
