Tortoise adalah kura-kura yang hidup di darat, binatang tersebut hidup di area yang sejuk biasanya mudah di temukan di pinggiran sungai atau hutan dengan tekstur tanah yang lembab.
Tortoise termasuk herbivora yang menyukai makanan berasal dari tumbuhan, berbeda dengan turtle (kura-kura air) yang bisa di golongkan omnivora. Tortoise bisa hidup sampai puluhan tahun dan bisa mencapai bobot lebih dari 50kg. Banyak pecinta tortoise yang memelihara dan membudidayakan, karena keindahan cangkangnya yang unik dan indah membuat harganya menjadi luarbiasa mahal.
