🚴 Tour de France 2018 | Stage 10 | Alaphilippe takes superb Stage victory as Greg Van Avermaet extends lead!

in tourdefrance •  7 years ago

At the first of the Mountain Stages in the 2018 Tour de France, eventual winner Julian Alaphilippe and overall leader Greg Van Avermaet were part of an early breakaway, consisting of 19 other riders. Team Sky were content to let the breakaway form quite a big gap along the 158.5km-long stage, and after about 50km it was very evident that the eventual victor was going to come from the break - the first for this year's Tour!

Rein Taaramäe was the first to attack in the closing kilometres, but Alaphilippe bridged over to Direct Energie's Estonian rider and continued pushing on. No-one had anything close to what the Frenchman had in his locker and he emphatically took the Stage win!
