Nebraska Tourism has funny new slogan

I would imagine that most people don't think much about Nebraska and if you aren't from the United States there is a good chance you don't know where it is (pro tip: it's dead center.) You certainly wouldn't think of going to Nebraska for a vacation, would ya?

When i first saw this I thought that surely this was a home-grown fake advertisement that is actually quite witty. However, this is the real state tourism slogan. It is not an attempt at reverse psychology either, its kind of just the truth.

You see, I lived in Nebraska as a kid and have fond memories of it. I was a child and likely would have been happy anywhere but I returned to visit once as an adult and there was nothing wrong with it. Everyone just has this impression of it being one very long corn-field that you have to drive to in order to get to Colorado - and in many ways this notion is correct.

Just like anywhere, there is a lot more to it than the stereotypes. Yes, Nebraska is primarily a farming state and yes, the primary crop is corn (the football team is called the Cornhuskers) but there are plenty of nature oriented stuff there as well and we used to frequent these locations when i was quite young.

For many years, Nebraska has finished dead last in the US for tourism destinations and the tourism board likely decided "F**K it! we're losing anyway... may as well troll."

When I saw this picture, i don't even know what I was looking for, it certainly wasn't to plan my next vacation but I have to say well done Nebraska, this is a very good idea that if nothing else, is going to sell a lot of T-shirts. I'm trying to get one right now.
