No Towels before 9am?

in towels •  6 years ago

Almost every year, @bingbabe and I go to a sunny beach all-inclusive holiday and every year we see the same thing. A sign such as this one!

If there’s one thing in common at every location we visit it’s this. ‘This sign and statement should be ignored’.

Will they really remove your towels? Categorically NO, they wont as they don’t want to alienate their patrons.

The place that we are visiting this year seems to be half empty, so there is really no need to lie the towels down on the beds early, thus stamping your residence for the day on three sun loungers and yet I’m still doing it. Force of habit? Perhaps this is the case.

Should I stick by the rules and obey the sign? Perhaps again, but if everyone else breaks the rules then why shouldn't I? I was never one to conform.

Made me think of this

Haha.. @bingbabe can't stop laughing at this, very fitting! :)

I can imagine you doing that :)

Hehe 😂

You would hate me lol. Two decades ago, when I was on my honeymoon, I got so miffed with the towels left on seats in the morning, and no one coming to use the loungers for several hours in some cases. So I spoke to the hotel staff. I knew they wouldn't do anything, so asked them permission for me to do it for them.

Every morning for the next 8 days I removed all the towels and piled them up in a corner. No one dared say anything to me (I didn't tell my wife I did it, or she would have been embarrassed - me, I don't give a monkeys lol).

Good for you. People can get very petty about these things when they should be enjoying their holiday

Great story, I only do it because everyone else does. That said, it really doesn't matter at this resort as it's half empty, which is irregular at this time of year.

It's a hard choice. Which three did you go for?

Oh... three that were together, but you will have guessed that anyway :)

I read last year that Thomas Cook were taking bookings of sunbeds with the holiday bookings in some places (Beat that Germany lol). Personally I just take the towels off and move the sunbed where I want it. Balls to em :)

I'll have to find that news story, or are you winding me up?!

I definitely read about it some time last year. Can't remember where or vouch for its accuracy. Maybe it was a PR stunt or something.

If there resort isn't all that busy, I have a feeling they are not going to care at all. Like I said though, I have never been to a place like that before. I guess it does make sense if there are a lot of people wanting to hang out around the pool though.

I've only once been to a resort like that! But my guess is that the notice is really there to give you the wink to remove any abandoned towels if you want to use the lounger. That's what I would do. If I was ever going to lounge by a pool (I'm more likely to be up a mountain).
