The human body already has sophisticated systems, such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin, that work hard to keep them free from toxic buildup. However, some things can be done to help the system rest and not be burdened with extra work.
One very important thing you can do is drink lots of water. Water is essential for healthy digestion, joint lubrication, and the elimination of waste products. In addition, limiting alcoholic beverages and staying active, play an important role in keeping the detox system, aka the elimination of toxins in the body, in top shape.
Several plants and vegetables are thought to aid digestion and support the body's natural detoxification system. Reporting from One Green Planet on Thursday, February 3, 2022, here are four plants that can help cleanse toxins in the body.
1. Dandelion aka Randa Tread

Dandelion leaves are highly nutritious and rich in vitamins A, C, K, E, and several B vitamins. Dandelions also contain large amounts of iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
Dandelion root is rich in inulin, a type of soluble fiber, which can promote healthy gut bacteria in the digestive system. Dandelions also contain high levels of beta carotene and polyphenols.
These important antioxidants can protect against cellular damage and protect against certain diseases. Additionally, although more research is needed, some research suggests dandelion may help protect against and prevent liver damage.
Dandelion has a fairly bitter taste. But the leaves, roots, and flowers can be used to make tea or enjoyed as a coffee substitute. You can also make a dandelion smoothie or salad with these vegetables.
2. Nettle leaf or stinging nettle

The name is a little scary. It is not surprising that nettle is not widely used. However, with careful and proper processing, such as drying or cooking, nettle can be a very nutritious and beneficial vegetable and herb.
Nettle is often touted as one of the most nutrient-dense foods and is packed with vitamins A, C, K, and several B vitamins. Nettle is high in minerals, such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and sodium.
Nettle also contains several antioxidants, including beta carotene and various polyphenols. It is also thought that nettle may help protect the liver from inflammation and toxins. Nettle can be enjoyed as tea or soup.
3. Burdock root or Niupang or Gobo or Japanese yam

Although native to Asia and Europe, burdock can be found growing wild in the United States. Burdock has a very long taproot which it uses to extract minerals from the ground.
Burdock has long been used in traditional medicine as a diuretic and digestive aid. Burdock also contains high levels of powerful antioxidants and is a good source of inulin which promotes healthy bacteria in the gut.
Some studies show burdock helps in detoxifying the blood and aids blood circulation in the skin. Besides being used to make bitter tea, burdock root can be eaten as a vegetable.
4. Peppermint

Peppermint is well-liked and widely used because of its pleasant minty taste. Peppermint leaves are commonly used in tea, toothpaste, and snacks. Peppermint comes with several health benefits that can help improve mood and release feelings of bloating.
Various studies show peppermint can have a calming effect on digestive discomfort by helping to relieve pain, release trapped gas, and relieve symptoms of indigestion. Peppermint is also thought to have a positive effect on mood and can help relieve fatigue and daytime sleepiness.
Amazingly, peppermint is very easy to grow alone, for example in a pot. Peppermint can be a great medicinal ingredient on your patio.
