I always enjoy showcasing when we buy a cool collection. Be it toys, comics, figures, statues, Pops, or whatever...when these things walk through our door it’s hard for me to pass up a good buy.
Well today a lovely young lady came in holding a box of Funko Pops. She had just moved out on her into a small apartment. With her newfound independence in life also fame lack of space. Therefore she has decided to cut ties with her precious Pops.
It’s a small collection and while nothing crazy, it was filled with a good amount of pieces that we are currently out of so I was definitely interested right out of the gate. In total there are 36 piece. 34 regular Pops, a 3 pack, and a deluxe box set.
So after a bit of chit chatting, I asked her what always seems to be the hardest question for those selling their collections...”What are ya looking to get?”. Rarely do I ever get a response that’s a suitable answer to the question. Usually the seller either throws a number out that makes me choke on my own spit as it’s so insanely ridiculous that I have to ask again just to make sure I heard the absurd number correctly. It’s either that or the “I have no idea”. It’s a unicorn when I get someone who throws out a respectable number off the bat so I was a bit shocked with how today went.
I went through the process of explaining that she would make more if sold online and blah blah blah. She said she was aware of that and just needed space. That she just wanted a few bucks and that she even understood that we had sone of the pieces in the shop already and that some had some slight damage to the boxes.
It was actually refreshing to some degree to hear these things out of someone’s mouth. Usually folks try to talk their possessions up as gold. She on the other hand pointed out some flaws in the pieces and was realistic on how it works selling in bulk to a shop. The magic number she threw out was just $75 bucks which breaks each piece down to $2.08 a piece. I’m in for that shit!!!
All in all, I needed 22 of the 36 pieces. While some will sit for a while and eventually bring in the basic $12, other such as the Bobby Singer from Supernatural will end up up commanding close to $50 bucks on its own. Tasty!!! Until the next one...

Haha I don't even work in your shop and was pretty sure those are the typical answers you would get from people, good to see someone either done their research or knew their stuff @blewitt.

These things do seem to be rather popular for some reason. The last time I went to walmart, I noticed that they even had a selection of them. :-)

Yeah they have grown to an unbelievable amount in popularity in just 8 years. They are a collectible juggernaut. It used to be small specialty shops like mine that carried them. Now they are at all big box retailers. Nuts!
