Doğu Akdeniz ve Doğu Atlas Okyanusu kumlu plaj kıyılarında görülülen bir hayalet yengeç türüdür. Adını gözlerinin üzerindeki kıllardan ve soluk renkleriyle kumda kamufle olmasından alır. Kuma oluşturdurları oyuklarda saklanırlar ve çoğunlukla geceleri aktiflerdir. Boyutlarına göre canlılar için yırtıcıdırlar. Avlanarak ve toplayıcılık yaparak beslenirler. Deniz kaplumbağalarının yumurtalarını da sık sık yedikleri gözlemlenmiştir.
