Ege Üniversitesi Botanik Bahçesi ve Herbaryum Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezinde dünyada sadece İzmir'de yetişen bir endemik bitki türü keşfedildi. Bu yeni türe ' Eferezenesi' adı verildi.
2017 yılında Gümüldür-Menderes arasında çıkan yangının bu yeni türün popülasyonunun bulunduğu alanı tamamen kapsamasından dolayı nesli tehlike altındadır. Belki de yeni keşfettiğimiz bu endemik türümüz Eferezenesi'ni daha yeni tanırken kaybetmiş olabiliriz.
