Secret Garden of Istanbul, Ataturk Arboretum - İstanbul'daki Gizli Bahçe, Atatürk Arboretumu

- The Ataturk Arboretum which was built by the Istanbul University Faculty of Forestry in 1949 has been prepared with continuous work until 1961. Open air museum which was named "Ataturk Arboretum" in 1981 due to Ataturk's 100th birth anniversary is made up of endemic plant species, endangered tree species and plant and tree species of different climates brought from abroad. In every season, the arboretum attracts attention with its green vegetation and its excellent natural atmosphere, and also the tree nursery which was founded in 1961 and carries the title of being the first nursery of Turkey.

- 1949 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi tarafından yaptırılmaya başlanan Atatürk Arboretumu, 1961 yılına kadar süren kesintisiz bir çalışma ile tamamlandı. Atatürk'ün 100. doğum yılı nedeniyle 1981 yılında "Atatürk Arboretumu" adı verilen açık hava müzesi, nesli tükenmekte olan ağaç, endemik bitki ve yurt dışından getirilen farklı iklimlerin bitki ve ağaç türlerinden oluşmakta. Yılın her mevsiminde yeşil bitki örtüsü ve mükemmel doğal atmosferi ile dikkat çeken arboretum aynı zamanda 1961 yılında kurulan ülkemizin ilk fidanlığına da sahip.

- Arboretum history back to the Egyptian period and among the first set ups, the plants brought from all over the world were trained in special gardens for Pharaoh and his family. Then this special gardening which is continued by many distinguished and noble families in Europe is continued with scientific purposes such as research and development today.

- Arboretumun geçmişi Mısır dönemine kadar uzanıyor ve ilk kurulma nedenleri arasında dünyanın dört bir yanından getirilen bitkilerin, Firavun ve ailesi için özel bahçelerde yetiştirildiği söyleniyor. Daha sonraları Avrupa'daki birçok soylu ve elit ailenin devam ettirdiği bu özel bahçeler, günümüzde araştırma ve geliştirme gibi bilimsel amaçlar için kullanılmaktadır.

- Ataturk Arboretum which is a laboratory for students to learn about various plant species and to train new species from its inception, creates a breathing space to get away from the noise of the city. It is very important that the visit is made according to this essay without forgetting that the Arboretum is an open air museum, not a promenade place. It is forbidden to put all meals for picnic such as food and beverages brought from the outside, into the arboretum.

- The Ataturk Arboretum is a great place to take photos. You need to make an appointment for professional shoots and you have to report machinery and equipment to the management. Photos and video footage is a fee and must be paid in different amounts.

- The arboretum is located in the Southeastern part of the Belgrad Forests one of the most pristine locations in Istanbul and losing nothing from its natural tissue. The Ataturk Arboretum situated at the very beginning of the Belgrad Forests in Bahcekoy Sariyer, is on a large area of 296 hectares.

- Arboretum, İstanbul'un el deymemiş lokasyonlarından biri olan ve doğallığından hiçbir şey kaybetmemiş Belgrad Ormanları'nın güney doğu kısmındadır. Sarıyer Bahçeköy 'deki Belgrad Ormanları'nın yanı başında yer alan Atatürk Arboretumu, 296 hektarlık geniş bir alana yayılmıştır.

- The open-air museum contains woody trees and plant species that are hardly ever known. Many people visit the arboretum in all seasons from Turkey and all around the world.The Ataturk Arboretum which is opened to the public in different applications during the summer and winter months can be visited with different entrance fees for students and civil visitors. Visitors can be admitted to the open museum open during the week from 08:30 to 20:00 in the summer months, until 17:00 in the winter months. Also, since the arboretum is completely closed on Mondays, visitors are only taking other days of the week and weekends.

- Açık hava müzesinin içerisinde odunsu ağaçlarla birçoğu neredeyse hiç bilinmeyen bitki türleri bulunuyor ve arboretum her mevsim, Türkiye başta olmak üzere dünyanın dört bir yanından birçok ziyaretçi ağırlıyor. Farklı dönemlerde, farklı uygulamalarla halka açılan Atatürk Arboretumu, normal ziyaretçiler ve öğrenciler için değişen giriş ücretiyle ziyaret edilebiliyor. Yaz sezonunda 08.30 - 20.00 arası ziyarete açık olan müze, kış sezonunda ise saat 17.00'a kadar ziyaretçi alıyor. Arboretum Pazartesi günleri kapalı olduğu için ziyaretler haftanın diğer günleri ve hafta sonları yapılabiliyor.
