The mansion places on the trade routes of the caravans. The caravan needs were met free of charge in these prestigious buildings, set up by the state or philanthropists. If they were in a city, they would take the name "han".
The biblings, which were established for military purposes and to protect border security during the spreading of Islam, were used for commercial purposes in later periods and this building was called caravanserai. After the Turks became Muslims, the caravanserai that emerged on the expanding Islamic lands took their most advanced form during the Seljuk time.
