Fotoğrafta görünen Mecidiye Köprüsü 1842 -1847 yılları arasında Abdülmecid zamanında yapılmış. Üzerinden büyük araçların geçmesine izin verilmiyor .
Meriç Nehri, Milli Mücadele’den sonra Yunanistan ile aramızdaki sınırı belirleyen bir nehirdir. Yunan askerlerinin topraklarımızdan çekilirken verdiği zararlar sebebiyle savaş tazminatı istenir. Ancak Yunanistan tazminat veremeyecek durumdadır ve bunun yerine toprak olarak Karaağaç bölgesi istenir . Lozan’da bu istek kabul görünce Meriç Nehri artık bir sınır nehri olmaktan çıkar.
