📈STEEM Investor Report 10 February 2018 (Bitcoin Rally Stalls, STEEM Still Rising)

in trading •  7 years ago

Trading Recommendation:

HOLD, broader market direction is uncertain, significant risk of STEEM falling if SBD returns to $1

Investment Recommendation:

HOLD, expecting to be much higher after the release of communities, SMTs, and partner applications

Analyst Commentary:

The STEEM price is up 7.65% verse the USD over the past 24 hours on higher volume ($129,445,000) as Bitcoin slowly advances to $8.7k but STEEM appears to have gained Korean attention again. STEEM is gaining ground verse Bitcoin with Korean trading still leading the volume as it accounts for 92% of market volume. New account creation is very strong at 3,600 new accounts created in the past 24 hours. The % vested indicator is up slightly at 72.16%. SteemDB has caught back up and I have updated the power down graphs. Daily active accounts is down slightly at 61,029 accounts active over the past 24 hours. SBD is at $4.75 on Bittrex which is still very elevated over the peg, receive you rewards in 50% SBD and then use the SBDs to buy STEEM on the exchange. SBD conversions are a waste of money again!

For traders, I believe STEEM is fairly valued around the $3 level, but we will remain elevated until SBD returns to the $1 peg. On the investor side, I believe we will be significantly higher after communities are released and the account creation problem is solved (the timeline for this is currently unknown). I would power up your rewards and buy after STEEM corrects to the $3 level.

If Korean exchanges are the source of SBD trade, then I have to ask, how popular is steemit.com in korea? If they understand that the witnessess are not going to hardfork to do something about SBD, then they should focus on where SBD is going.

Is it being traded in for STEEM? or is it being sold on the open market back to the koreans?

There is actually a rapidly growing Korean community on Steemit. It appears that the SBD is being accumulated on the exchanges. Once the price drops back to the peg, it will likely come back to be converted to STEEM.

do we know if they are transferred to the exchange from an outside source or if people are simply buying them from the exchange and holding it on the exchange wallet?

SBD is being bought up for elevated prices on the exchanges. Authors who are receiving their payouts in 50/50 SBD are creating SBD which is flowing to the exchanges to fill the demand.

SO.... in all this I have a few questions to pose..

What do you think the impacts of the most recent huge weekly power downs will be to the value of STEEM and SBD? You think market manipulation in progress? What is the timeline for SBD back to 1$ if its a scheduled event?

The huge power downs do not appear to be hitting the exchanges so it is not yet negatively impacting the STEEM price. The SBD value is tied to demand from South Korea, there is no timeline for when it will return to $1.

Thank you.

I'm getting more than 1 Steem for 1 SBD now, but I still think SBD needs to stabilise so people use it for buying stuff more.

It's nice to be able to stock up on STEEM, but I agree we need to reestablish the $1 peg in the long run.
