Bonfire Night

Hey all!

Bonfire Night (aka Guy Fawkes Night) is a pretty big deal in Newfoundland. The tradition of burning the old brush and other wood around in a giant heap, usually on the main beach of the town, has been carried on since settlers from Europe came to this little island many moons ago.

The local volunteer fire department came out to make sure it was all safe, and did the honour of lighting the fire all around with a blowtorch.

The heat was glorious! Especially for someone like me who is eternally chilly.

Such a great night!
Do you celebrate the 5th of November?

Take care!

Nothing like a big bonfire on a cold night to warm a person up! :-)
