Off the record.

Last month, one of my friends got a $1052 ticket for "failure to yield to an emergency vehicle."

He was confused about why, because he wasn't in the way of any emergency vehicle. Obviously, he was unhappy about this gigantic fine.

So, I used the app "off the record" to hire an attorney. You pay $220, send them a photo of the ticket, and they do the rest. If they can't improve your situation in some way, the money is returned.

Today, they confirmed that they got the ticket dismissed in its entirety!

So now, I'm a huge fan of Off the Record. If you get a ticket, you should use them. If they can't help you, you get your money back, but the lawyers who work with them are quite experienced in traffic infractions and from what I can tell have quite a good track record of getting tickets modified or dismissed.

Obviously, don't drive like an idiot. But also, why would you pay a ticket without at least trying to challenge it?
