Traffic rules are rules that must be obeyed if we want to avoid minor or major accidents and if we are interested in living long. It is very important to know that it is for our benefit that the Road Safety officials were introduced to enforce these rules. It is therefore important that we obey these rules not out of fear of punishment but for the preservation of our lives and properties. This book has been written to help and guide us on how to go about our daily routines while remembering to obey these rules. The rate at which people are losing their lives or sustaining very serious injuries on our roads is on the rise. The state of our roads as well as carelessness of drivers have helped in no small measure to this increase. The death toll on our roads in this country for the year 2017 from January to June alone was 2, 673. Thus we see that many people have lost their lives and many more have sustained major injuries that have rendered some totally paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair otherwise their lives no longer remain the same. We should not forget that most of these people that have lost their lives or rendered in incapacitated are the sole providers of their families thus further increasing the hardship these families face. There is also the challenge of finances when these accidents occur. Many people do not have sufficient funds to pay for their medical bills leading to the sale of their land and other valuable properties just to foot the bill. Others keep borrowing which they find hard to pay back when they are back on their feet again. Unfortunately, some have lost their lives simply because of their inability to raise the money that was required to begin treatment. While it is important that our roads are safe for every road users, however, regardless of its state, we must do all we can to protect ourselves as much as possible since that is what is within our control. The most important way to protect ourselves is to understand the traffic rules and obey them.
