As you've seen in the previous posts our little friend is growing like a maniac.
And altough he looks adorabel we must keep in mind that our little friend can become just a big a guy as his daddy.
So id like to introduce you guys to the mom and dad of JayJay,
Dad is called Joop;
and Mom is called Daya;
now you also understand how he is mixed colored like JayJay is :-)
We have over 14yrs of experiance rasing large dogs but i dugg into some books and dvd's to refresh my intell.
Ofcourse we all know Cesar Millans 3 steps program... of exercise, discaplin and affection but id like to do things on a more intuitive way too.
With JayJay we are just trying to learn the basic rules like sit, stay, come over and down. Besides that there are some thing we train that will come in handy for every dogowner;
1: never bite, not even when we play ( just distract him of give him a chewtoy)
2: when we walk, he has to sit at every curbstone. JayJay already starts to learn this but we have to be very consitent in doing so, because he still wants to run back home ;-) We will try this without a leash when he is a little bigger or listens even better then he already does. By learning to sit at every curb and waiting for us to tell him to move along, we hope that if he ever breaks loose, he wont get much further then the first curbstone he comes across.
3: we teach him the same with the frontdoor and the door in the backyard. He can only go out when we ask him too, and reward him if he stays inside even when the doors are open.
4: something that will help us stay good friends when he grows older and much stronger... we let him follow or walk besides us... never in front of us. This way we make sure he won't pull. Now its not a big deal. But looking at his dad i rather dont have him pull me along the road.
Well... that where some tips along the way. I will tell you guys someting about bathing en brushing in the next blog and ofcourse will keep you updated with how he grows and devellops... thanks for reading and if you have good tips or remarks please reply on the topic bye bye
Thomas Jefferson helped enact a dog tax in Virginia, because he was annoyed that dogs were killing his sheep.
