Linemen are heroes in our world. Without electricity, there will be so much chaos and uncertainty in our society, but thankful, that is not the case. Since the light bulb was invented, engineers found several uses for electricity and decades later; cars are now being built to run on electricity powered technology. The job is undoubtedly a dangerous one, and many people have suffered different ordeals that have caused permanent damages due to one reason or another.

Even with the job being described as dangerous and risky, brave men still opt for the role to ensure we can continue to enjoy electricity and by doing so, humanity has a chance to develop as well as attaining new heights continually.

There will always be a need for professionals to service our electricity needs. That is why NALTC, North American Lineman Training Center invests the time and effort to train aspiring linemen as well as employees of several electricity service companies in the best practices and updated knowledge base in theoretical aspect and as well as in the field.

The Mission of NALTC

National American Lineman Training Center, aims to provide exceptional training to the next generation of linemen, in safety and general knowledge for professionals who will be working on electricity. With a curriculum taught by Journeymen Linemen, who are highly experienced, the training center prides themselves on being able to engage their students with the one-on-one approach which makes it possible for them to gain more hands-on experience.

Some of the courses you will learn as a lineman when training with NALTC

Personal protection equipment and procedures. As a lineman, it is important to take personal protection seriously. Before anything, you should be sure that you have your affairs in order, so you can be in a better position to do your job and salvage a safety-related situation if the need arises. This course covers safety efficient procedures as well as the personal protection equipment for linemen.

Electrical systems. As a lineman, you will need to understand the basics of electrical systems before you can work on anything electricity related. This course will cover from the generation of power to transmission, distribution and its conversion. If you understand how it works, then you can safely implement safety precautions when on duty.

Basic electricity. With this course, you will learn the basics of Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) as well as their mathematical and practical applications.

Personal protective grounding. This course covers how and why electricity companies work on distribution and transmission lines. You will also learn about all the methods and equipment used in working on these lines.

Other courses include transformers, underground, career planning, field instruction, rigging and knot tying among others. The course outline is also designed to cover all a lineman needs to know in practicality as well as in theory.
