Sometimes laziness has its best and we don't keep to the goal we set ourselves, that is to do physical activity with constancy. For those who usually enroll in the gym and then stop halfway, or for those who can always find an excellent excuse not to get out in the open air to make a run, should know what changes his body is facing due to inactivity. Women's Health has made an infographic statement in which she explains what happens when we leave training aside for a longer or shorter period of time. If this is not enough to convince you to train regularly - the editors write - we don't know exactly what it will do.
IF I DON' T TRAIN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS
In this case, the body will take advantage of it to recover and soothe any muscle pain. But if we give ourselves more food or alcohol during the rest days, we may start to feel a little puffy.
IF I DON' T TRAIN FOR A WEEK
After a week of non-workout we might start to feel a little "softened": this is because the muscle fibers begin to decrease in volume, while the body tends to retain more fluid. In general, however, you don't feel too bad and, probably, returning to training after a week you don't notice any significant change compared to before.
IF I DON' T TRAIN FOR MORE THAN TWO WEEKS
The physical fitness is definitely in decline after more than a couple of weeks of non-workout. The mitochondria, the "energy centers" of the cell, which produce the energy needed for many cellular functions, such as the movement and transport of substances, which are very numerous in the renal or muscle cells (those in which there is a great consumption of energy), begin to decrease. Heart resistance is the first thing that goes down. Staircases can lead you to feel your muscles burn or can leave you with short breath.
IF I DON' T TRAIN FOR A MONTH
Most of your heart rate and endurance achievements made in recent months have been thwarted. Increases fat mass and decreases lean mass. Without training, stress also increases: physical activity no longer supports your circadian rhythm and so it can become difficult to sleep well at night.
IF I DON' T TRAIN FOR A FEW MONTHS
Your metabolism changes. In addition to burning less calories, you probably feel tired more often and get tired faster. Your heart is tougher and your lungs don't absorb as much oxygen as they were used to doing before.
IF I DON' T TRAIN FOR A YEAR
In addition to an increase in fat mass percentage, loss of muscle volume, damage to metabolism, risk of suffering from certain health problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, insomnia and depression.
