Welcome the first episode of Transwer me this! The Transguy Handbook podcast.
Featuring Lee Hurley and Nat Creighton, two trans guys from Northern Ireland, Transwer me this discusses a range of issues relating to being trans while refusing to take the whole thing too seriously.
As this is the first episode, we had to come up with our own questions.
This week they are:
How do you even know you’re transgender in the first place?
Why can’t you just be a butch lesbian?
Does this mean you’re gay now?
The premise is simple. We started with three basic questions and then went off on a load of tangents.
Tangents we found ourselves exploring in this episode include:
Coping with being trans by using sex, drugs, and therapy
Losing the lesbian community when you transition
Not realising just how trans you are until you start transitioning
Do your feet get bigger?
How do you do feels now you’re on testosterone?
Is being a trans man like being a secret agent?
Talking to strangers about your genitals
Being ‘in-between’ and vulnerable
Which bathroom is more dangerous – the men’s or women’s?
Is transition ever really over?
How do you undo the mental grooves formed by being transgender?
How do you find a place in the LGBTQ+ community as a straight person?
If you have a question you’d like to send in for a future episode, we’d love to hear from you. It doesn’t matter if you’re trans or not, you can get in touch and we’ll do our best to answer your question. Either email your question to [email protected] or record it as a voice note and email it as an attachment. If you do this, we can then use you asking the question in the podcast.
