Part IV- I did not mean to post 3, twice..

The Culture as a Whole:
Admittedly, I love my tech. I would have to decide to change something drastically to get involved with H+ culture, and would probably end up more like the girl who was expelled from school for using her lag to charge batteries then falling into the “Better than Newton” group. I actually have my own biases about being “wired” even though I have seen the effects of cochlear implants, electronic heart valves, and prosthetic legs; it still seems foreign to me a tech-savvy guy who can build and program a circuit of tear down and fix a smartphone. Tech culture and hacker culture are “different” but H+ is totally a different world, and qualifies as a culture and by it’s own definition a different race. We here of “Black”, “White”, “Asian”, and other words being referred to as “race” a little less than 20 years ago, but I still think it is a little stupid. I always say “Native American” because I am born here in the US. It is always a topic when I say it too. I have learned to refrain from “You’re African American? What part of Africa were you born in? When did you come here?” I do have an acquaintance who came from Liberia after losing all of his brothers in the civil wars, little different than being born here and he loates the term “African American” more than I do; he is U.S. Citizen. We use the term “Native American” in the US to refer to what would properly be called Aboriginal American or even First Nation as our Native American neighbors to the North, in Canada, call their Aboriginal American population. The Transhumanists call themselves an emergent race, namely because they believe an event called the Singularity will occur. Scary as it sounds, there is some logic behind it, as a “Techie” I see it might one day come to pass. As a SciFi fan I am both excited and scared. As someone who just heard about it, I am a little shocked how fast so many tens of thousands of people see this as inevitable.
