I think it would be great if steemit would allow those of us in the community to translate the site. We would get to see the value of our contributions in everyday use, get paid for it (hopefully), and certainly broaden the user base considerably. One would have to keep in mind, though, that the translations would most likely be reviewed/edited prior to release. No company, website, or any other business is going to have an unverified translation released publicly; there's too much at stake for them to simply say "Ok, looks good to me" and a few days later customers call and tell them that what is supposed to be a webpage entitled "About us" really says something profanely different in whatever language to which it was translated. And you probably wouldn't want that happening to you, either.
I would love to see a community-based translation effort on steemit!
