Killing transparencybot - A message to spammers with no SP!

in transparencybot •  6 years ago  (edited)

Dear Transparencybot, fuck you. Since day one you have been nothing but a spammy piece of shit providing NOTHING but autonomous SPAM on this blockchain. Now your REPUTATION is -6 and it is time for you to cut your business short.

61AzWLGAtzL._SX355_.jpg

The next Spambot that wants to comment on everyone's post pretending to be of service will meet the same faith, no longer will @booster watch and not act. However, we are ashamed of our colleagues in the bidbot business who did not act. You amateurs show that you lack integrity, leadership and real power in this market.

For months this shitbot has tortured your customers with guilt-driven shitcomments, and you did NOTHING to stop him.

Well, now he is stopped and his reputation is -6 only because of @booster - the FIRST and ORIGINAL Bidbot - the rest of you are just copy/paste without integrity.

No respect.

I've been flagging this prick for weeks.
I tried to be diplomatic...even provided him with alternatives.....then i just said enough and started smacking him.
Thank you @fyrstikken and @booster

Can you tell me why showing just numbers, statistics is making him a prick?

I guess he can't and I like the idea of transparencybot. Although I understand some arguments of those who run bots, I see nothing wrong about @transparencybot. And the reaction here for example is absolutely remarkable. I asked fyrstikken why he reacted like this. It does not give me arguments to support any bot idea if bot creators threathen other steemians whatever they may think about them personally with violence (see the comment section): https://steemit.com/steemit/@transparencybot/transparencybot-daily-report-card-for-yesterday-5-31-18
This guy is a witness! You can not threathen other steemians to beat them in front of their family and on the other hand go around and tell everyone how great bidbots are and what you do good for the steem ecosystem with your company! I hope those reply was just an ironic reaction not to be taken literally and @booster @fyrstikken will explain so minnows like me won't more and more looseg faith in the people that maintain steemit. If they even care... This must come to a friendly compromise for the future of both, as well bidbots and steem as a whole. I think those bots offer great chances for promotional purposes. But they are mostly used and run just for best ROI which can not be a sustainable for the future of steem in my opinion. Steem could climb on top of the crypto list, esp. in poor countries it offers such great chances, it really can become the next great thing. This will be much more profitable than a maximized short term ROI

hey there Mr. "interwebz-challenged" it is easy to link to direct comments, I do it all the time :P

because you're spamming other peoples blogs instead of posting on your own.

Maybe Jonny Can't but I CAN
This idiot uses a SLIDING SCALE to increase business, it was those using over 50 SBD or steem to get bidbot votes, then he dropped thw threshold DOWN tremendously to "50 sbd received" so basically cut it in HALF. No One can accurately predict what the payouts will be, so that is patently UNFAIR. It should be SBD amount of bids placed but this idiot is proclaiming himself

JUDGE JURY AND EXECUTIONER all in one.

@planktown - you do realize that I can just upvote my comments with 300.000 SP bot right? But I don't intend to. You need to understand, that censoring is not helping me or you or the steem ecosystem. If you don't agree with me - please give me some arguments.

Spamming comments is why.
He can very easily create original content (wow there's a novel idea) and make a post on his own account with all of this information.
Instead he spams peoples hard work.
Well clearly he went to far....and he has been officially treated as a spammer...as he should be.

But lot's of voting bots add comment about the upvote too - how's that not spam, while aggregated info about total amount of bid bots usage is?

because its voluntary, your bot's comments are unsolicited

who decides what qualifies as "spam". You call the information he provides as "spam" based on whose definition of spam ? I mean, what prevents you from calling my comment "spam" for instance ? It's your content and I'm giving an unsolicited comment here ... so by one theory at least I am spamming as you were spamming cardboard and initially booster's post as well ... Just to understand who decides what is spam ...

The owner of the original post determines what is spam in their comments.
Little late to the party with this comment btw....only by like 2 months.
The owner of the bot has since created an "opt-out" version and I know longer give a fuck since he is no longer spamming my content.

That's because I didn't care about "the party". I'm sorry for the platform because the controversy surely hasn't helped. But the question about what is spam and who decides what is spam I find an interesting one. Someone's spam is someone else's free speech and freedom of expression. A government could accuse the media revealing a corruption scandal as "spamming" .... or not ?

Every single individual....defines spam...as it is to them.
It's not rocket science.

fighting spam is not censorship

You're still farming.

You gotta spend money to make money. I don't understand why so many people have an issue with the bots, other than when someone puts up a post with two sentences and a picture; yet that post has a $200 value. That is abuse. Otherwise, if people have earned SBD or purchased SBD to use in order to boost posts, there is nothing wrong with that. Transparencybot's problem was it lumped all users of bots as POS's and that is not right. And to top it all off, they spammed people's posts with posts of their own, upvoted their own post and then shared the posts that they made on their own page under 2 -3 different accounts. Those accounts were all owned by the same person. Yet that person was boosting their own posts with...you guessed it...bots. The hypocrisy is what the main issue is. There is nothing wrong with sharing information on how much someone used with a bot. I have no issue with that on my posts. The problem is the spamming of comments and I think that is what @booster was trying to get at before transparencybot got defensive and said they aren't spamming. Hence the downvote to hell. An opt out option is cool with me, but when he says he is going to downvote you if you opt out, then it becomes petty and shows the true intent of his project. Done with rant.

So... are we allowed to disagree with this course of action and say we liked having @transparencybot, or will anyone who publicly says so be downvoted? Asking for a friend.

My sentiments exactly. I actually believe in TB's advocacy and I personally feel this is a sad day for the platform. Yet Steemit, as in the real world, is a dog eat dog world. Survival of the fittest is the mantra. But there are those who fearlessly take on the world for what they believe in regardless of the consequences. They have my respect and admiration.

"Survival of the fittest" is just a polite term for social Darwinism, from which you get the philosophical justification for eugenics, colonialism, ethnic cleansing, animal abuse, etc. Not saying that killing @transparencybot is at all equivalent to those things, just that that mantra brings out the worst in people and makes people feel okay about taking advantage of others because they think that their ability to do so demonstrates their own superiority. Anyway, that's a non-sequitur, but I generally try to look for a better explanation from people when they act like bullies.

the bot is bullying people by spamming their blogs.

it is the same as bots that hack wordpress blogs to spam them, its wrong.

I certainly respect everyone's opinion on this, but personally (and it looks like I'm not alone in this), I don't consider it spam at all, and I think @transparencybot is providing a service. I would like to know if a post has been boosted, and if so, by how much. I am much more concerned about the spam that hits our front pages because of the wrong people boosting their stuff, and what impression that gives to high quality writers who may want to join us. If the bot owners are proud of what they do and the people who boost them don't see anything wrong with doing so, then I don't see what's wrong with their work being out there in the open for everyone to see. Maybe a good compromise would be for @transparencybot to offer users the ability to opt out, the same way @qurator allows users to opt out of comments notifying members of what tier they are? That way, if people feel that their blogs are being spammed, they have the option to have their preferences respected.

Ah, yeah. I see.

I'm curious about this situation as well. Bookmarked for the reply.

Not only are you a bully, but you are a hypocrite too!
https://steemit.com/witness-category/@redboy09/re-fyrst-witness-defending-the-core-economy-a-message-from-fyrst-witness-20180527t040903508z

You are paying a spammer with sooo much spam that my tablet's memory crashed three times in a half hour's attempt to get that link.
I finally got it from the replies on your witness page.

So, look in the mirror, eh?

How did the DAWN project with that homeless guy go?

I know you hate money and capitalism.

I think you got me confused with somebody else, i have no clue what you are talking about.
Anything i am involved with gets put on this account's page, either directly, or as a resteem.

Yes, i do hate money and crapitalism, they facilitate bullying the weakest amongst us.

Edit: apparently this didnt post earlier.

Many thanks.
Nobody want his articles comment section to be filled with bot, scam, and phishing shits.

Several people tried speaking with you Craig. You could have chosen to engage and create a useful reporting service that was non-judgemental and provided some value.

You also never had an Opt Out built into your bot code which a python child could do.

By @steemcleaners definition you are a comment farming spammer which is why you were added to the @broombot blacklist. That is where spammers go pal. Spammers. Spammer. Spamme. Spamm. Spam. Spa. Sp. S. .

All I can say man is, if this is your big dream, @transparencybot, might I gently suggest you may want to develop a new dream?

How were his comments judgemental?

This information is being presented in the interest of transparency on our platform and is by no means a judgement as to the quality of this post.

???

He is 100% against bidbots. He rewards people using the tag nobidbots. Have you even read and understood the context of your quote?

You didn't answer my question.

He is 100% against bidbots.

So we're censoring people because of their personal views? Steem has a bright future for sure...

He rewards people using the tag nobidbots.

How dare he!??!!! This clearly makes huge harm to steem ecosystem!!!

I did answer your question. You are too obtuse to understand my answer.

Okay, once again:

This information is being presented in the interest of transparency on our platform and is by no means a judgement as to the quality of this post.

Please show me the judgemental part in this quote.

Or let's see the whole @transparencybot comment:

Example:
This post has received votes totaling more than $50.00 from the following pay for vote services:

appreciator upvote in the amount of $116.25 STU, $145.59 USD.
rocky1 upvote in the amount of $85.97 STU, $107.67 USD.
upme upvote in the amount of $80.02 STU, $100.22 USD.
buildawhale upvote in the amount of $60.79 STU, $76.14 USD.
therising upvote in the amount of $44.26 STU, $55.43 USD.

For a total calculated value of $387 STU, $485 USD before curation, with a calculated curation of $97 USD.

This information is being presented in the interest of transparency on our platform and is by no means a judgement as to the quality of this post.

Show me the judgemental part.

And suddenly there was stillness all over the place....

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Its judgemental to act like promoting a post more than a certain amount requires additional attention or transparency, and to force that opinion on peoples blogs with your comments.

People should be allowed to chose how they promote their posts without getting unsolicited spam.

There absolutely must be an opt out, nevermind it should actually be opt-in

People should be allowed to chose how they promote their posts without getting unsolicited spam.

Devil's advocate here: Well, in this case I decide to repost my very same article every 5 minutes, my freely chosen form of promotion. I hope you don't dare shaming me for my free choice. You could simply mute me, but please don't comment on my repetitive posting. (No I'm not going to do this, just consider this a provocative thought experiment)

you're attempting to defame peoples blogs

do it on your own blog.

i thought this was a platform to help us grow together what ever differences we have can always be discussed among ourselves as civilized human beings instead of the Alternative..

So "no sp" equals spam? You must be crazy.

Many thanks @booster. I hope this craig coleman guy eventually learns his lesson. He's not the first upvote farming spammer disguising themselves as the good guy, and probably won't be the last.

comment farming is a plague

@boster, this is an act of heroism.
Lots and lots of spammers in form of bot.
Most get money from users and failed to render the services which they had promised.
Thanks for your intervention @booster. Best services ever

much agreement

So its spam when a comment informs everyone of exactly how much was paid for an articles visibility but it's not spam when bidbots fill the trending pages with whatever posts pay them to be up there? Got it.

yes.

sigh

You see what happened to the bot, glad you 'got it'...

Damn @booster is showing its teeth.... who would of thought...

Even though it created some kinda awareness on fair usage and all that, which was pretty cool, it did make people feel bad a bit, and this is the blockchain. I feel people could use their funds however they saw fit.

Again, bots aren't really the problem. Fair usage is. I would love to see the day bot owners create a tool for sorting out articles that are good enough to be boosted, and those that aren't. It would improve the overall value of the blockchain as per content creation.

We just need some common sense. It's pretty clear when we see a lazy post that perhaps didn't deserve a high payout. It's a little bit annoying when someone creates a bot that comments on your articles and you did not ask for it yes yes.

True.

Only the audio tts bot I love hahahah. I wish he could be used on the articles you wanted. This account @tts since I find it highly useful considering audio is the future and saves time

'Quality' however, is in the eye of the beholder? Would you select Youtube videos on their quality? Some of the biggest hits are the worst vids!

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

This is wrong. Quality is defined as in what people desire to click on and that have long watch time on.

That tool is called "a human." Bots will never be able to detect quality content which is why most of the bots ARE the problem.

Fishy!!! :-D.

Then by all means the bots should have people employed to check that.

Wait, we've already been singing that to them yeah? They won't listen, would they?

Smartmarket and Minnowbooster both do this; SM employs people the traditional way and MB gives an affiliate payment. I'm one of the most active at evaluating accounts on the Minnowbooster side.

Time to get angry!!! haha

Thanks @booster for this great work. These bots are creating problems in steemit.@mafzaal92 appreciate youe post.

Hahahhaha

@booster is great work in steemit, all the best go ahed, i always support this

To whom it may concern, i transferred 2sbd to @booster with this link as memo https://steemit.com/sc-n/@dhaarmiie/faith-absolute-belief

Lol, i didn't understand the real role of transparencybot at all. It was an hypocresy by this user announcing that some posts were trendy because the author paid for some bots to make it pop. ¿Seriously? What a useless shit...

This information is being presented in the interest of transparency on our platform and is by no means a judgement as to the quality of this post.

This is a quote from the @transparencybot comment. Can you tell me where is guilt torture??

Its unsolicited, its aimed at discouraging free use of the system, and it is aimed at raking in comment rewards by farming.

Spam/scam bin material burn it.

Because he did so in every trendy post i've seen, which seems accusatory...

Every post you saw it on bought its place on the trending list.
We didnt vote it there it took its rewards by paying a thug bot to steal from everybody else

Understood. However, what i mean to say is that user posted his comment in every post to warn all people that the author of the post used some bot to make it trendy, which for me has no sense at all...

Why warn?? It was just an information. Do you think censoring this information is better?

Waity, waity, waity...

I didn't say that the info must be censored. I've just said it isn't necessary at all. It is considered a warn because biding bots is not well seen for some people who thinks using that service is for the losers or non-populars. Biding bots -and pay huge amounts to promote your posts- is necesary to gain presence on Steemit like it or not...

put your 'information' on your own blog.

True.

I didn't mind TB itself all that much but it provokes trolls who have no interest in understanding the economics of the system, but just want to go off on people who buy votes.

the tribe has spoken

right...

@booster I gave you 0.30 sbd long ago did not vote till now, did not return the money.

its a symbol of fuck.

sir me send 1 sbd plz check

It is true that you say, sometimes need to take decisive action for harmful treatment as a warning to others.

DEATH TO THE BOTS!!!

I wish someone would take out the cheetah bot, killing posts over stupid shit every day. Don't tell me "It just upvotes you" because it is the LAST upvote a post gets. The name is an accusation, and it KILLS a post whether there was any actual infraction or not (usually not, from what I have seen.)

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

There are many spammers like that claiming to be a bidbot, I do receive some comments telling me to send 1 sbd and my post will be reestem to their followers. They claimed they have more than 10,000 followers. Thanks @booster for eliminating those spammers disturbing users.

How about some f'n warning to me you bully?

I need that money to f'n eat you rich piece of shit.

Pull you f'n flag!

Fuck off ...

Thanks he's a spam bot for profit

hardcore

Very well said. How do I get content out that is worthy? I was around 51 sp when I found out about buying votes. To much fake shit when I ask people this simple question. So any thoughts on that? I am new but now more than ever want to help humanity so thats why Im asking. Thanks for doing what ya do. Have a dope weekend. Take care.

You are right @booster This is not really good work.I see many oither bidbots on #steembottracker who gave Upvote less than the SBD and they set their vote at 5-6 % which is very bad act.I hide them from my side of #steembottracker.
They show their that they gave them big upvote but I see they do not give any Upvote.
I see you are doing good work.
Some days ago I see you can't upvote on some Post is there was any problem in the system in those days?
