Isle of Wight trip Day 1 - 怀特岛游记 - 第一天

怀特岛是英格兰最美丽的小岛，也是很多英国人心目中的度假圣地。就连英国皇室也非常喜欢这座小岛，也经常来这座岛上度假。怀特岛上的景色非常独特，既有挺拔的山峰，也有干净漂亮的沙滩。同时岛上也是各种户外活动的天堂，可以在这里登山，冲浪，玩游艇等等。而每年六月份岛上还会举行盛大的音乐节，吸引了无数的游客。

The Isle of Wight is the most beautiful island in England just off the south coast of England and it is a very popular holiday destination. The British Royal family also likes this small island and visited it for a few times. The scenery on the Isle of Wight is very unique, including the mountains and beautiful beaches. It is also suitable for lots of outdoor activities such as climbing, surfing, yachting etc. The famous Isle of Wight Festival takes place here annually.

要去怀特岛，渡轮是首选的公共交通。我们从南安普顿坐渡轮上岛。我们需要排队把车开到渡轮上。渡轮上的设施很全，可以在上面就餐。同时也可以到甲板上欣赏海景，不过就是风有些大。

The Isle of Wight is easy to get to by ferries, and once you are here you won’t want to leave! There are up to 200 Isle of Wight ferry crossings a day operating from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington. We took the ferries from Southampton to East Cowes.

首先我们来到了怀特岛最著名的Sandown海滩。这里的海滩绵延几个英里，海滩中央有著名的码头。而且这里的沙子非常细，海滩也非常干净，海水清澈见底。同时因为在这片沙滩上曾经多次发现过恐龙的骨头碎片，怀特岛还有另外一个大名鼎鼎的绰号：”恐龙岛”。如果你去Sandown海滩的话，可以试着去找找看。。。
Sandown Beach is one of the Isle of Wight's finest and most popular beaches with miles of soft golden sands, together with Sandown’s pleasure pier sitting in the middle. Dinosaur bone fragments have been repeatedly found in the beach, therefore, Isle of Wight has another famous nickname: "Dinosaur Island".

在Sandown海滩附近有很多英国著名的炸鱼薯条店，基本上都是几分钟的步行距离。我在去买炸鱼薯条的路上偶然发现了Royal China这家中餐，去买了份虾仁炒面，分量非常大而且味道还不错，记得是5英镑，感觉比吃鱼薯要好。!

下午我们又驱车去了位于Godshill的这个Model Village小人国。里面很好玩，有各种栩栩如生的房屋，建筑，交通工具，动物，当然，还有各种人物造型。里面也很适合照相。
We went to the beautiful Model Village in Godshill. There are scale models of Shanklin and Godshill villages as they were in the 1920's.

Shanklin(尚克林)是怀特岛上的一个小镇，景色优美，建筑风格非常别致，尤其是那些房子的屋顶，让人仿佛置身于童话世界中。
