Unreal Pink Lakes around the World that you can actually visit ( my pink lakes bucket lists)

Around last year, I have been seeing the photos of this pink color lakes in Instagram. I was not so sure about its real color, because let’s be honest people Photoshop everything they post online, including me. Sorry , can't help..

So I did some read up online and guess what, yes some of them are actually pink. I have also heard of a pink color sand beach from Indonesia, it seems to me that one is not true though. Anyhow, it's because Micro-organisms produce a red pigment that turn the algae pink. It also depend on the temperature and salinity of the lake have to reach a certain point in order for the water to change colors.They are also extremely salty, hence often called as the salt lakes and are used for salt production.

I mean , we can’t deny the unique colors of thee waters, isn't it ? Below are some of the places that you can actually visit and accessible. And I also included pictures that do not look too overly edited , except the first photo.

1.Las Coloradas, Yucatan

Anna is one of my favorite travel bloggers, because of her I started my obession with visiting to the pink lake . It is Located approximately two hours from Playa del Carmen, Mexico. But right now, it become so popular and not allowed to go in the water anymore. Argh!

2. Port gregory, Western Australia

It seems like Australia is heaven for pink lake lovers. Other pink lakes in Australia are

  • Lake Hillier, Western Australia
  • Lake Eyre South, South Australia
  • Hutt Pink Lagoon, Western Australia
  • Pink Lake, Meningie - Australia

3.Laguna Colorada, Bolivia

Laguna Colorada is a shallow salt lake in the southwest of of Bolivia and it is close to the border with Chile. I have also read there are a lot flamingos around the lake.

4.Le Salin de Gruissan, France

For food/seafood enthusiasts, I have a location for you.
If you want to eat seafood, overlooking the pink salt ponds, this is the place. I have also read the food there was excellent .

5.Salina de Torrevieja, Spain

Las Salinas de Torrevieja is one of the most impressive natural parks of Valencia.

6. Lake Retba, Senegal northwest Africa

Thank you. my first one would be the one in bolivia ..

My opinion is, the pink color came from a billion pieces of powdered red organ pipe coral. And it's not quite good to swim in pink beaches because of the dead corals that might hurt your feet when you step on them.

there are corals? I thought they are salt water mostly..
