TRAVEL: Visiting Acropolis in Athens? Read it

Vistitng Acropolis in Athens? It's not cheap to visit this place, so plan & save...
Since I like traveling - I decided to share with you my information and opinion about Acrpolis...
First of all:
Times for free entry to Acropolis and adjacent places are over...(unless you plan it right) so they charge sizeble fees for tickets:
Full: €20, Reduced: €10
Valid for the archaeological site of the Acropolis and its Slopes. Tickets are available only at the ticket office on site. From the 1st of April 2016 the ticket price for the Acropolis archaeological site and the North and South slope changed to 20 Euros (reduced 10 Euros). The price for the unified ticket changed to 30 Euros (reduced 15 Euros). Special ticket package: Full: €30, Reduced: €15, Valid for 5 days.
Valid for: Acropolis of Athens, Ancient Agora of Athens, Archaeological Museum of Kerameikos, Archaeological Site of Lykeion, Hadrian's Library, Kerameikos, Museum of the Ancient Agora, North slope of Acropolis, Olympieio, Roman Agora of Athens, South Slope of Acropolis

Free admission days: 6 March (in memory of Melina Mercouri) 18 April (International Monuments Day) 18 May (International Museums Day) The last weekend of September annually (European Heritage Days) 28 October Every first Sunday from November 1st to March 31st

Reduced admission for:
Greek citizens and citizens of other Member - States of the European Union who are over 65 years old, upon presentation of their ID card or passport for verification of their age and country of origin.
The accompanying parents on educational visits of elementary schools.
University students and students at Technological Educational Institutes or equivalent schools from countries outside the EU by showing their student ID

Free admission for:
Escorting teachers during the visits of schools and institutions of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education and of military schools.
Holders of a solidarity card
Holders of a valid unemployment card.
Members of Societies and Associations of Friends of Museums and Archaeological Sites, upon presentation of their certified membership card.
Members of the ICOM-ICOMOS
People with a free admission card
Pople with disabilities (67 % or over) and one escort, upon presentation of the certification of disability issued by the Ministry of Health or a medical certification from a public hospital, where the disability and the percentage of disability are clearly stated.
Single parent families with minors, upon presentation of a family status certificate issued by the Municipality. In the case of divorsed parents, only the parent holding custody of the children
The employees of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Archaeological Receipts Fund, upon presentation of their service ID card.
The official guests of the Greek government, with the approval of the General Director of Antiquities.
The police officers of the Department of Antiquity Smuggling of the Directorate of Security
Tourist guides upon presentation of their professional ID card.
Young people, under the age of 18, after demonstrating the Identity Card or passport to confirm the age.

How you can het there: Access

  1. Metro Station "ACROPOLIS", then via Dionysiou Areopagitou str.
  2. Metro Station "ACROPOLIS" then through the archaeological site of South Slope, Dionysiou Areopagitou & Thrasyllou str.
  3. Metro Station "MONASTIRAKI", then through the archaeological site of Ancient Agora, or Plaka district.
    For security reasons the "Baggage-stroller check-in" service will not accept large luggage. Visitors are allowed to enter the archaeological site with small backpacks and handbags.

If you have not been there JUST pack your bags and go!
