The Road to Cafayate

This isn't the landscape you would expect to see in South America. This is one you would expect from the South West. But yet here it is in the North Eastern part of Argentina in a place called Cafayate. Cafayate is about a 2-hour bus ride from the city of Salta and 5 hours from Buenos Aires.

The place is known for it's arid but fertile lands ideal for growing a specific type of grape, Torrontes. Torrontes is a white wine varietal that's fruity, but not sweet, and fragrant. Here you can get some of the best for only $4 a bottle.

Have you been to Cafayate??

We have a desert in Algeria like this .If you want to visit

friend, I invite you to visit the Venezuelan landscapes I think we have one of the best

Ahhh, alas. I ran out of time. I was staying in Ecuador for a month! Next door to you :) I want to visit that one lake that always have the lightnings :)

the catatumbo lightning, is a good place to visit I also recommend the great savanna and the angel jump

It does look like it's meant to be in Arizona or even the Outback in Australia (minus the mountains in the background).
Send some of that Torrontes wine over here. Actually, Argentinan wine isn't half bad.
We haven't been to Argentina, but waiting to save enough to travel a few countries in South America. It should be an adventure!

Well I'll say that Chilean and Argentian wine is top notch :) I drink wine often and enough to know what I'm talking about :) Have you guys considered workaway? I did a few projects like this in Europe and met a few traveling through SA. In fact the hostel I stayed at in Cafayate was staffed by workaway peeps :)

Chilean wine has been and is getting recognition worldwide.
Workaway is something to we will consider in the future. At the moment, Sam is halfway through studies. Once that is finished, the world is our oyster as they say.

I also thought this was Australia!

This looks like the ride down to the valley or Mesa az,
You always seem to photograph real clouds, haven't seen a chemtrail yet!
Did you get to Tango while in Argentina?
L

Ahhahha, I got to see professionals do the Tango...Not me ;)

wow, that's amazing landscape. I wish to cycle there

I cycled it :) with terrible rental bikes. This route is fair, a mild 48 Kilometers down. But if you have good gear/bike, I would also cycle it up (moderate incline).

Great shot. I want to switch to sony Sony so bad! I have been a pro canon shooter for 11 years, but I like my a6300 so much better. The moment I can afford the A7RIII I'm switching. How do you like the A7II?
