Machu Picchu is an Inca ruin site, located in a mountainous region at an altitude of about 2,350 m above sea level. Machu Picchu is above the Urubamba valley, Peru about 70 km northwest of Cusco (Inca royal capital).
Machu Picchu is built in an ancient Incan style with polished stone walls. The main building is Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Three Window Rooms. These places are called the Sacred District of Machu Picchu.
