Travel Journal - Exploring the beautiful city of Budapest

Recently, I wrote about my delightful experience of seeing my favorite band live at Budapest.

We decided to sleep over and explore the city the next day. And we didn't regret it. We only had half a day so we only got to see small part of it. But that was enough to feel the vibe of the city and fall in love with it.

Like Belgrade (my hometown) the city lies on both sides of Danube that were unified in 1873. Beautiful bridges, Gothic style buildings, medieval castles and monuments, spas and thermal baths are some of the top attractions among tourists. The city successfully mixes fascinating history and a modern artistic style.

Having no time to lose and without planning the visit in advance, we got to the Margaret bridge, a three-way bridge that connects Margaret Island with both river banks. It's the second oldest bridge in Budapest after the famous Chain bridge.

Rest of our visit we spent walking along the beautiful Margaret island. Lying in the middle of Danube, it's a recreational place covered with recreational facilities, music fountains, zoo, flower and light gardens, ruins of medieval fortresses and surrounded with long rubber-coated running track. You can rent bicycles and pedal carts of all sorts and explore this beautiful island.

Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to visit all the places we wanted. But we made a promise to come back as soon as we can.
