Riding by the Sea

in travel •  7 years ago

I recently had the opportunity to take a ride along the coast with my family. It is an extraordinary experience. Whoever has ridden knows the pleasure that is experienced with this activity. But that pleasure increases even more when doing it along the coast.

With my wife and two children, I made a two-hour tour through low-altitude mountains, landscapes and xerophite flora. Fortunately, the sky was not clear, so the level of insolation was not so high and the temperature was pleasant. At the top of the highest hill the strong cross winds of the ocean, added to the extraordinary view towards the surroundings and towards the sea will be an image difficult to forget.

After reaching the top, we went down winding roads to the coast. There, as we approached the sea, we wondered if we would really get into the water or if we would simply drive our horses along the shore.

Once we reached the shore, we followed the coastline, barely letting the sea bathe the horses' hooves. But at a given moment, without warning, we entered the water.

At the beginning, I managed to lift my legs and avoid getting my shoes wet ... then I said to myself, and what does it matter? I just put my legs down and felt the energy of the sea combined with my horse's energy.

It is one of those simple but deeply wonderful pleasures that everyone should perform even once in a lifetime.
Definitely, the enjoyment of beauty, nature and simplicity has no comparison with elaborate technical entertainments or expensive artifacts.
