Since 1973, the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Canada
has an unusual drink on its bar menu. It's called the Sourtoe cocktail, which is a shot of whiskey that contains a salt-cured human toe bobbing in the glass. Various people have donated many toes over the years, and at least eight have been stolen and/or swallowed. Recently a drunk fellow stole a toe and it was returned!
Cigarettes were being promoted as being good for your health until as late as the 1950s.
Guolizhuang Restaurant in Bejing, China has just one weird ingredient on the menu: penises. We may find it funny but they believe it to be a source of strength!
In 1820, Martin Fugate and his wife Elizabeth Smith moved onto the banks of Troublesome Creek, a beautiful area in Appalachian Kentucky. There is no official recording as to whether Martin was actually blue, but he and his wife both carried a recessive gene that would turn their son Zachariah Fugate a startling blue color. Martin and Elizabeth had seven children: four of them were blue. Since the gene causing the blue coloration is recessive, the family had a 25% chance of having a blue child with each pregnancy.
The Dani (or Ndani) tribe is the indigenous people that inhabit the fertile lands of the Baliem Valley in West Papua, New Guinea. The members of this tribe cut off their fingers as a way of displaying their grief at funeral ceremonies
When a person in Dani`s tribe passes away, his relative like wife or husband cut off his hand finger and bury together with the dead body of her husband or wife, as a symbol of love to her husband or wife.
Crab Migration on Christmas Island:120 million Red Crabs migrate and make their way to the coast from the forest to breed and lay eggs in the sea usually in the month of october and november
Lake Natron in Tanzania:The high soda and salt content turn animals and birds coming into contact with the water into stone!
Professor Zhang Lin spent six years building it. The lavish villa measured 8,600 square feet — not including all the surrounding decorative boulders and shrubbery — and was complete with a pool, sun terrace and a freaking vineyard. The structure was so heavy that metal reinforcements had to be build on the sides.
