Hello Steemians! I decided to hire myself as “Steemit Ambassador” in Argentina and engage in a city tour in Buenos Aires to share with all of you.
I live in a western suburb of Buenos Aires, namely Caseros. The lands that now belong to Caseros were given to Captain Juan Ruiz in the second foundation of Buenos Aires on 1580, so they called the place like Cañada de Ruiz. After successive sales, became the property of Isidro Burgos who in 1781 sold to them to Diego Casero. The name of Diego Casero over time was distorted by locals and eventually called by the name of Caseros. My journey begins at the train station:
Already in Buenos Aires I switch to the subway, in this case the B line and decide to stop-by one minute to show you the “Carlos Gardel” station. Gardel was a French Argentine singer, songwriter, composer and actor, and the most prominent figure in the history of tango.
I went out near the Luna Park Stadium. The stadium is located at the corner of Avenida Corrientes and Avenida Bouchard; in the San Nicolás neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Initially, the stadium primarily hosted boxing events. In the 1950s, it was expanded to host stage shows and concerts.
Then I headed to La Casa Rosada, which is the executive mansion and office of the President of Argentina. The characteristic color of the Casa Rosada is baby pink, and is considered one of the most emblematic buildings in Buenos Aires. Unfortunately, there was a protest march going on, so I only could take pictures from one lateral side.
Not far from there, in front of the custom house building, a statue to honor lieutenant general Juan Domingo Peron was inaugurated in 2015. Although Peron and his wife Eva Duarte ("Evita") are still controversial figures, they are nonetheless considered icons by its followers. The Perons' followers praise their efforts to eliminate poverty and to dignify labour, while their detractors consider them demagogues and dictators.
A few blocks from there is Puerto Madero, the district representing the latest architectural trends in the city of Buenos Aires. In the 1990s, local and foreign investment led to a regeneration effort of this district. Every street in Puerto Madero is named after women. The Puente de la Mujer (Women's Bridge), by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, is the newest link between the east and west docks of Puerto Madero.
Back in Avenida Corrientes I couldn’t help myself and took a picture of the Obelisco. The Obelisk of Buenos Aires is a national historic monument and icon of Buenos Aires. It was erected in 1936 to commemorate the fourth centenary of the first foundation of the city.
Today’s City Tour ends at the renowned Colón Theatre, the main opera house in Buenos Aires. It is ranked the third best opera house in the world by National Geographic, and is acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world.

Great stuff! As an Argentinean abroad I subscribe to your views of the city, and I really appreciate that you keep a detached, non-partisan view even while showing the most politically influenced area of the country's capital. The visit was kind of short and I look forward to seeing more!
